My now husband I were originally planning a large wedding, that, as is often is the case, started to overwhelm us in cost and scope. We turned to the Grafton Inn initially because they offered a well-reviewed elopement package. We knew we were making the right choice when we had our first conversation with Kathy, (a co-innkeeper and coordinator of weddings, among other things) who was able to fit us into their busy fall schedule despite our very last minute timing.

We stayed in the “Cricketers” suite, where we were supplied with champagne and cheeses made right in Grafton. There is also a very large bathtub with jets in this suite which was amazing to sink into. The Inn itself is a historical landmark, encompassing many buildings dating back as early as the 1700’s, all of which seem to be well maintained. Prior to the wedding we hiked Grafton’s trails which took us over a babbling brook and through a covered bridge. Throughout we were surrounded by luminous yellow and orange foliage. We were also welcomed into the sheep barn where adorable, healthy-looking sheep were chowing down. At this point we definitely felt like we were genuinely getting into a "Vermont" frame of mind.

The ceremony was held in the Old Phelps Barn, officiated by Grafton’s Justice of the Peace. Kathy helped us coordinate music, bouquet, and cocktails and appetizers for afterward. We said our vows in front of the big fireplace, where there was a fire burning. Afterward we toasted our future, then were whisked away by our photographer Herve for many more photographs to document the moment. We definitely recommend Herve! He is a very experienced photographer with commercial background and does a really good job of capturing natural moments as they happen. He also seems like a great guy and was genuinely bent on getting the best possible shots.

We had dinner in a private area of the dining room, where we were served a multi-course meal inclusive in our package. I particularly liked the duck breast, which had just that right crispness to it. There was also a real-deal, two tiered buttercream wedding cake on display by our table. The service was genuine, warm, and efficient.

We were very happy with our stay here-- although we were eloping and looking for something low-key, we wanted our marriage ceremony to be special, and Kathy and her employees definitely made that happen for us. We recommend it for sure.

Room Tip: Cricketers Suite has a large jacuzzi tub.

This is a very chintzy old style inn. Not to our taste at all, we much prefer modern but there wasnt anything else with good reviews in the area. We had a tiny 4 poster double bed. We were squished right in together. The bed creaked terrible, anytime either of us moved it woke the other up. No tv only a radio. Bathroom door wouldn't shut properly, had to slam it shut and kick it open it was so warped. Stairs creaked a lot and some rooms are right next to them, glad we weren't next to them!
Dinner was good and very tasty. Breakfast was also nice.

My husband and I were married at the Grafton Inn in September 2012 and our day was perfect. Kathy and her team are just awesome -- flexible, professional and kind. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The Inn -- and the village of Grafton -- are beautiful. I highly recommend Kathy and the Inn.

Room Tip: For families or longer stays, the houses are perfect. We stayed in the Woodard house for a week and...

Spent one night at the Grafton Inn last summer and loved it: the atmosphere is exactly what you expect from a New England historical Inn. We came across the Grafton Inn by pure chance: we found a brochure of the Inn in a country store and decided to drive up to Grafton. We were also lucky enough to get a convenient last minute rate by calling. As soon as you walk in, you're transported back in time... The room was cozy and well-appointed, the bathroom was big enough and clean. Our room didn't have a TV, which did not disturb us at all: it added up to the atmosphere of the place. We had dinner at the Tavern since it was already late and we didn't feel like driving (there isn't much else in Grafton apart from the Tavern itself and the Barn Pub which belongs to the Inn as well) and the food was actually very good. Breakfast was served in a pretty sunroom and the food was delicious. We enjoyed sitting outside on the front porch rocking chairs at night, just listening to the crickets and watching the stars. Definitely a relaxing and charming place well worth a visit.

My husband and I really enjoyed this Inn. The room was very clean, bed is super comfortable and it was peaceful for sleeping. Breakfast was served in a pretty atrium/sunroom and the food was great. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The only amenity we took advantage of was the "game room" which was located across the road in another antique house. There was a pool table and a ping pong table. It was nice not to hear electronic bells and whistles in a game room! The setting for this Inn is rural and rather isolated. If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil village Grafton is it. We would definitely recommend it!

Thank you Angela and Kathy for the perfect weekend, they took care of everything from the Justice of the Peace to the Violinist. Their attention to detail and making sure everything flowed through the evening helped us relax and enjoy the celebration. They are the BEST.

I had not heard of Grafton, much less the Grafton Inn until a recent trip to Vermont a few weeks ago.

When we arrived, it was pouring rain. We checked into our room (the Grant room) and then were invited to listen a jazz group that was playing in the inn's little pub. We both had a beer and listened to the music for about an hour. Our hostess was extremely pleasant and easy to talk to.

The Grafton Inn, according to the literature, has had numerous visitors ranging from Rudyard Kipling to Ulysses S. Grant. It is maintained extremely well and retains the charm of years gone by. Our room had books regarding the history of Grafton, as well as photos and paintings of General Grant on the wall. The bed was very comfortable.

The breakfast was also great---probably the best we had on our trip. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive.

Grafton is a few hours from Concord MA and makes a good stop off place for anyone who wants the Vermont/New England experience. I'd definitely recommend it!
