Where to begin: a gracious and exceptional hostess, clean rooms, beautiful house and peaceful grounds, a simply PERFECT "home base" for a weekend wedding in Vermont. Searched for something close to "Johnson, VT" near the Dreaming Mountain Retreat Center, and couldn't have asked for a more fortuitous find. This is no doubt where I'll find myself when I'm in that neck of the woods again, and hopefully soon enough for an Austen Weekend! Don't think about it: BOOK!

The Inn is even better than it looked on the internet. Lovely landscaping, very clean and beautifully furnished, and in a perfectly quiet location. Had 3 great nights of sleep on a very comfortable bed. Breakfast each morning was always delicious, impeccably prepared and served. Suzanne is the epitome of graciousness and made a point of being available to offer advice about the area, something that's always appreciated when looking for a good place to grab dinner or local activity. We loved all the amenities ... extensive library, including take a book, leave a book shelves... movie library, chocolates, homemade cookie jar, fruits and a bit of sherry at the end of the day and relaxing on the back porch and sitting area just off our room on the day it rained. It felt like home the whole time we were there! Thank you Suzanne, Jonathan and I had a great stay and appreciate all you do!

This quiet beautiful setting is an immaculately restored19th century home with parlor, library, veranda, quiet nooks all available for guests to enjoy. Our room was lovely. Fireplaces in every room. Fresh flowers. Chocolate available 24 hours a day for the choosing.

Quite lovely, substantial breakfasts.

Afternoon tea is an additional option.

Our hostess Suzanne quickly became a friend. She had excellent suggestions to make the most of our visit to the area. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast.

Room Tip: We liked to Blue Room. There are other charming choices, but this one just appealed.

Staying at Governor´s house was one of the most interesting experiences we (me and my girlfriend) had in our trip to US. Suzanne is not just an innkeeper, but the soul that mantains perfectly, with such a hard work, the atmosphere of a place stopped in time.

My wife and I stayed at The Governor’s House in Hyde Park for a much needed weekend getaway. The Bed and Breakfast was just beautiful and the grounds were peaceful and well maintained. Suzanne, the innkeeper, was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. There were jars of snacks for us to help ourselves to during our stay- homemade cookies, fresh fruit, and chocolates. The inn has a wide selection of DVD’s, Books, and Games to choose from and enjoy. Breakfast was delicious and the service was friendly and accommodating.

My husband and I decided to have a small, intimate wedding at the Governor’s House in Hyde Park and we are so happy that we did. The house itself was clean, well maintained, and beautiful. The landscaping was welcoming and the lawn a relaxing place where our families and friends could relax and enjoy each other’s company. Suzanne, the innkeeper, took care of most of the details of our wedding and was very efficient with a thoughtful attention to detail. The food was fresh and delicious and arranged beautifully on the dining room table. The cake was simple yet elegant and very tasty. Having our wedding at the Governor’s House was easy, inexpensive and memorable.
