I was at Ruthcliffe for 2 nights in June 2012. A throwback to true lodge style camps where the intention is to enjoy the outdoors, relax in an adirondack chair by the lake, appreciate the stunning views, eat well and disconnect. ( Internet and phone service exist, but really to be here is to commit to disconnection). This little family owned gem of a place is like entering a different world. This is reflected in the simplicity of the rooms, the beds are exceptionally comfortable and the rooms are immaculate. They are small and meant to be used for their purpose of sleep and a quick change. Outdoors is the true beauty of Ruthcliffe, that and the charm and warmth of the owners and their loyal staff, the copious and delicious breakfasts included in the very reasonable price, and the fine dinners prepared by Mark: some in our party had an exceptional rack of lamb, others lobster steamed perfectly. Do not miss dessert as Kathy bakes from scratch. Paddle and swim right from their lake front dock, steps from each room. Bicycle ride around the island and enjoy a different side of rural Vermont! I will return, simple and rejuvenating.More
