Going downhill for some time. Lost its original vision as a lovely coffee bar and pastry place. Plans to reopen as a coffee bar with pastries again and a bar with snacks. Restaurant with sandwiches, etc. will be separate. Good luck to them, I'm looking for a return to the lovely, local ambience and more and better breakfast pastries

Thank Shirley A

The price point is very high for the quality of the food. The 6 dollar scone was dry dry dry. Cup of yogurt with berries a soup that was bland and a tea was around 12 dollars. I am sad this area really needs a FUN delicious place to gather and be able to enjoy often and not break the bank!

As with many of the prior reviewers, we are locals who have eaten here often, mostly for weekend brunch, or sometimes just to get a latte from the coffee bar. While the food itself is usually quite good. The service is almost uniformly terrible. This is not just a single bad experience, but multiple visits over the course of the past year. The staff is slow to seat you, slow to take your order, and unfathomably slow to make espresso drinks. It is strange because it always seems like there are a ton of staff around, but nobody seems to be doing anything, or attending to customers. It has become a running joke for us, "let's stop for a latte and see if we can get out in less than 20 minutes."

The folks who run this place seem very nice, and I want them to succeed. They seem to be spending a ton of money revamping the place. A much more affordable investment in better staff and better training might be a better idea.

My wife and I, along with my two sons and a daughter-in-law, enjoyed last evening the tasting menu event in anticipation of the opening of a newly renovated version of Caroline's, which will open soon as Fields. The starters, lighter fare and entrees were DELICIOUS and the service was friendly and attentive. I have always enjoyed the welcoming feel of this restaurant and look forward to more of the same under the new title. The plan to grow local veggies in the nearby fields for use in the recipes and dishes on the menu makes me eager for the renovations to be complete. To the chef and the kitchen team and to the hostesses, waiters, waitresses, and bussing staff, I wish for the very best into the months and years ahead. The bistro already looks terrific, by the way.

I have been here more than a couple times now for brunch. Sometimes the service is efficient, other times incredibly slow, and this does not seem to depend on how busy the restaurant is. I have been impressed by their wide variety of dishes and the smoothies are good. Food is either terrific (omelet with goat cheese and veggies) or lackluster (decent burger on a roll that was too dry and thick), no in between. Bakery items are fresh and delicious. A lively indoor atmosphere, but my husband and I enjoy eating outside on the deck the most. It is worth the stop if looking to eat outside, nurse a beer, and enjoy the view.
