My boyfriend and I spent a respite trip away from Los Angeles with Ann and Josh at The Trail Side Inn.
I am originally from Vermont, and already generally brimming with VT pride, but this spot perfectly encapsulates all that is good... The grounds are beautiful. The building is simple and solid. And, the Innkeepers are amazing.
We slept deep and late without the constant interruption of computers and TVs (available if you are jonesing, but not standard in the rooms).
We lounged the mornings away in the Great Room reading and drinking the good coffee, and bagels with fresh jam that are put out everyday.
In the afternoons there is a wide range of activities ranging from hiking to swimming to SUPing, etc. Josh and Ann are well verses in the local amenities and more than happy to chat through the options until you find a good fit.
I travel a lot for work, and sleeping in luxury hotels is part of that gig. I can't remember ever waking up as happy and refreshed as I did during our visit.
We'll be back.
One note: Ask them where you should stop on your way into town to get beer/wine/provisions, etc to stock your roomMore
