“Lodges at Sunrise A202: Fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 September 2009

We stayed in A202 at the Lodges for a long weekend with our adult daughters. It is the best equipped condo we have ever stayed in with a kitchen made for real cooking which we enjoyed. The furniture was all very comfortable. The choice of indoor and outdoor pools next door was a treat. Wise Vacations which handles the rental was efficient and helpful. We hiked in the area but also appreciated being able to walk the trails right from our door. Pretty peaceful except for the coyote howling in the parking lot one night!

This is the only ski on-ski-off in Killington! Our unit was recently renovated with stainless steel kitchen appliances, jacuzzi, sauna and wood burning fireplace with 2 bedrooms on two separate floors all for 200$ a night! Wow. A memorable experience especially with all the snow we had at the end of february...We rented the 5 day ski and stay package with Killington booking. Our Kids skied for free! Make sure you dont arrive too early on the sunday as units are available after 6 pm. We used the free indoor pool and free sunday afternoon skiing until our unit was ready. The skiing was amazing with powdered outer limits runs and no linups as highlights to this value packed holiday. Although Killington will soon need some lift retrofitting, we mostly used skyship gondola stage two to find interesting blues...oh by the way, the ski ticket is also valid for Pico mountain...another 4000 ft peak minutes from Killington. Why is this place so empty???

We recently got back from a 5-night stay at Sunrise Village and had a blast. I am really glad we chose Sunrise and I would definitley stay on a subsequent ski trip.

PROS:
1. LOCATION - Hands down the biggest pro of Sunrise is its location. It may seem far from a lot of the restaruants and other types of civilization, but it is one of the few condo areas with its own ski lift as well as ski home trails. With those two elements you can easily ski off in the morning to access the rest of Killington via Bear Mountain and also ski home at the end of the day.

2. Views - I assume views vary depending on your unit, but we had a great view of Bear Mountain and the slopes outside our sliding doors.

3. Coziness - With chopped wood easily accessible next to the parking area we had a roaring fire every night. The condos are cozy and the bed was very comfortable.

CONS:
1. Out of Date - The place could have used some updating. However, considering we where there to ski and were not in the condo that much it did not bother us. Plus we had everything we needed and our unit had a DVD player and newer T.V.

2. Lift Tickets - One complaint I had (but its more of a complaint with Killington than Sunrise itself) is that it would have been nice to have our lift tickets that we ordered with our package waiting at the Sunrise reception desk. Considering many people stay here so they can ski off from their condo, needing to drive to one of the lodges is a bit inconvenient.

All in all, there are so many other benefits to Sunrise that far outweigh the cons. Staying there really made our recent trip to Killington very enjoyable.

I think the quality of stay will depend directly on the way the stay was booked. We used greatrentals.com to find the unit we rented. You have to read the descriptions carefully- some units are ski off only... and if there isn't enough snow- you won't be able to ski on or off. We were very fortunate! There was a ton of snow before New Year's weekend. The unit was truly ski on and ski off... the pool and spa availability were a nice touch... the unit was clean and in good condition. Dealing directly with the owners was nice too- they left a bottle of wine for us and called to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Our family agreed we would definitely stay there again.

If you would like to start your winter vacation greeted by huge flies buzzing in your ears and a frigid cold room then this is the place for you. If you enjoy watching TV on probably the first color TV ever made along with the first VCR then come relax on their hard solid couches. Don't think their entertainment is the only outdated electronics. The kitchen needs major updates and the washer/dryer can maybe hold two shirts and one pair of pants and will take (no exageration) 4 hours to dry. Not to mention the staff provides very little information on the surrounding activities offered. Oh and you thought u would ski right onto the trails and ski home huh? Well thats just false advertising. Try walking down about three flights of stairs and a few hundred feet. You will have a blast skiing Killington, but then at 4 pm it's back to your new family friends, the flies, at Sunrise. By nights end you can crawl into what is called a bed, but not any softer than the floor, for what some may wish was a peaceful nights sleep. But on the brightside there were no bed bugs like at the Gold Strike Casino in Mississippi. For your sake please stay somewhere else. Vermont has many Inns along with Condominiums that are much nicer and are updated. One of our favorites that we wished we stayed at again is the Snowed Inn.

PS: if you do stay here please say hello to Clay Aiken one of our former fly friends...he did always say he wanted to be a fly on a wall, well now he is our landmark in RM 306.

This place was perfect for a nice getaway. It has ski on ski off from the condo's. The closest trail is ideal for beginners or those that haven't skied in a while like myself..but it also connects up with all the advanced trails on bear mountain. The condo's were clean..with a nice size kitchen, dining area, living room bedroom and bathroom. There is a great fireplace and washer and dryer. They do not make the bed for you but do come by daily with towels and to do the garbage for you. Be sure to bring VCR tapes not DVD's for the TV. They do have cable though...including movie channels. I have no complaints at all..of course a nice big screen tv would be nice..but you can't have everything :) We went for 4 nights in Feb. and paid less than a 1000...and that included 2..3 day lift passes. You don't need a lift pass for that first trail i mentioned.

My husband and I stayed there during Columbus Day weekend. We went just to see the foliage and it was simply beautiful. We didn't expect too much from the lodge but we were wrong. They upgraded us to a 2-bedroom condo and it was really nice. The fireplace was perfect after hiking down 4,200+ feet from Mount Killington. The room came with 2 R/T gondola rides to/from the mountain - which was a treat because we took it to go up the mountain. We didn't cook but the condo came with a fully-equipped kitchen. When we weren't out taking pictures of the tri-colored leaves, we were indoors playing chess, watching movies and hung out by the fire. It was truly a relaxing weekend. We look forward to going there again next year.
