This was our first visit to Killinton, VT. We went for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Mountain Inn was one of the only inns open on Tuesday of that week, which was great because it is literally a 2 minute drive to the base lodge at Killington. You cannot find a closer inn to stay at for the price if you want to stay right next to the mountain.

When we first checked in, they gave us a key to a "deluxe king". Upon entering the room we were suprised as we thought the room was supposed to have a fireplace and a balcony. We went back to the front desk and they upgraded our room without charging us to "Deluxe King with Balcony and Fireplace." This room was very clean, and we had a fabulous view of the mountain from our small balcony. The gas fireplace was very nice and easy to use. The bar in the Inn was very cool and overall, the Inn was very clean.

There were a few things that could have made our stay more enjoyable. The room and furnishings were old and dated and could stand to be replaced. The bed was extremely hard with 2 pillows that followed suit. I like to sleep on my side and woke up constantly with shoulders and arms that gone numb from the hard bed. The doors were very thin and we could hear everything in the hallway all night long as well as our neighbors. The shower had hot water but the 3rd floor shower head had very little water pressure - so little you literally had to stand in one place to stay under the water which was 4 inches in diameter.

After a long day of skiing, we tried the sauna out. They have a dry sauna (which does not make steam), and it was not very effective. We cranked it up to the maximum level and stayed in it for 30 minutes and didn't even break a sweat.

Looking forward to a late summer get away, the Mountain Inn proved to be a big disappointment. When we arrived at 3:30, our room was not ready. Once we got in to our room we discovered no air conditiioning. The room was warm and stuffy. We were provided with a fan and was told by the front desk that our room had been upgraded from a windowless room in the basement. Perhaps we didn't appear grateful enough for the fan. It appears the inn has not been updated in several years. It is shabby and somewhat grungy in spots. The sink in our room dripped incessantly and despite a promise that maintenance would fix it, we had to stuff a towel under it to stop the noise. It was still dripping in the morning. We had planned to eat at the attached restaraunt, but it was closed for the season. We thought a swim in the pool might be nice, but it was being set up for a wedding rehearsal party, so another disappointment. The continental breakfast was served in the closed restaraunt. It consisted of thawing frozen pastries and dry bagels, along with some nasty tasting fruit and cold cereal. The table that we sat at was covered with dust. The Inn is more like a beat up dormitory than a hotel. Given the room rates in season, I would avoid it!

this hotel I think is mainly used by schools. A few things;
The hotel has a certificate at reception announcing that it hosted the 1995 american ski team or something. I doubt they have changed any furnishings since.
Our school had to eat dinner in a small, bright orange painted, windowless room.
In our room the thermostat didn't work during the night so we all froze.
The beds are a bit on the small side for two people but the room was an ok size.
On one of the days we were there the cleaner left the balcony door open, left her mobile in our room and didn't take the dirty towels left in the bath.
One day there was NO hot water.
The rooms on on side have a balcony and a stunning view of the mountains however the rooms on the other side have no balconies and views only of the car park.
The 'shop' on the floorplan was no where to be found and the 'library' was more of a room with a tv, sofa and a 'who's who-1995'.
Breakfast consisted of waffles and doughnuts which was ok by me but maybe not to everyones taste.
However, the tv had loads of channels + a dvd player.
The bathroom was
A shuttle picked us up every morning to take us to base lodge. the snow was quite good whilst we were there although some runs were closed.

Stayed at the mountain Inn as part of a large group. Hotel in the BEST position a short walk from the main Snowshead Lift. Could have ben outstanding with rooms with view of Killington Peak and Bear Mountain. However, a few complainints that would stop us from re booking this hotel.

1 Bar Shut at 9.45 mid week and bar lady rudely and forcably thew everyone out. I thought USA Service was supposed to be good - not here!

2 Breakfast served on Paper Plates and Coffee in paper cups - have they no idea of how to run a hotel? - you do better than this is any UK Budget Hotel!

3 Rooms not clean and furniture quite 'tired' - the palce could do with a refit.

4 The temperature in the hotel was stiffeling! The corridors resembled a SAUNA.

This hotel is in the best position it could be. Simply a short walk from the lifts. They could do so much better with a little customer care!

We stayed at the Mountain Inn which was booked through Virgin holidays in the UK. We arrived during a snow storm and believe me, driving a van with 8 of us travelling in it, we were relieved to arrive at all! On first inspection the reception was very rustic (just what we wanted - not modern charmless accommodation). The hotel staff were fine. Reception is manned by young girls who were very friendly (even though we locked ourselves out 3 times!) The manager was great, sorted out a few shuttles in the evening for us and even asked how we enjoyed our evenings when we returned. The bartender (lady in her 40's/50's) was really cool and made our stay very welcoming and recommended lots of things to do and see in Killington and Boston.
The rooms were a little dated but as we only slept there, it was clean and tidy so it was no big deal. We were on the ground floor and as we had 4 children in our party it was great that there was a games room, pool and a fantastic pool/hot tub outside to entertain them after skiing.
The inn is ideally located near the slopes and the shuttle driver throughout the day was very friendly and helpful. The skiing was fantastic, especially as we had some great snowfalls whilst we were there.
Food was great, especially Sushi Yoshi and Outback pizza.
This hotel has had some dreadful reviews which is a shame as
we had a great holiday, met some great Americans and the skiing was fab. If I was to return to Killington, would I stay here? Yes I would, I look forward to seeing you all again one day!

We booked our room directly with the inn. They failed to mention that the $425 room was located directly above the piano bar.

Additionally, the room was dirty with rings and the toilet, body hair in the bathroom, and stains on the bedding.

When we asked to move to a different room, the staff was completely rude and told us if we wanted quiet we should have gone to Stowe. I am sorry, but we had just spent 5 hours driving in a blizzard and wanted to get up and ski the next morning!

They moved us to a smaller room but when we asked repeatedly what the cost of the new room would be, they would not give us an answer. The new room was also extremely loud, so the next morning we asked to move to a third room, which was even smaller. Again, the staff was completely rude and would not provide any answers when we asked about price.

Through out our stay we asked to speak with a manager, and were repeatedly told that one was not available.

We were treated like we were trying to scam them out of paying for the room, when all we wanted were answers.

Not one staff member ever empathized with our dissatisfaction or apologized for our inconveniences.

When we checked out, we still had no answers regarding our rates. We were assured we would not be charged anything additional. We were assured that someone would call us back. That never happened. When we checked our credit card, there was in fact an additional $350 charge.

No one ever called us. We had to call them to ask for break down of the charges. When we finally got the answers we were asking for all weekend, the woman on the phone was still rude to us.

I don't know how an inn or hotel can operate with such poor customer service. I do not recommend that anyone stay here.

we stayed here for 2 nights over a very busy weekend.the snow was great, this inn is really close to the lifts and you see the slopes and skiers from your window, really amazing.Although the inn needs a little updating, you can`t beat the location,it`s the best in the ski resort.you couild walk to the ski lifts if you wanted ,but no need as there is a free shuttle. Our room faced away from the slopes but still comfortable, huge bed and nice room, bathroom needs updating, but hot water, great gas fire place, all round very nice.we`ll be back for sure,so very cosy .Great restaurant, awsome steak!!!!!!.
We are a family of 4 and we all enjoyed our stay, especially the children. there is entertainment on site in the piano bar , with several snug lounges. a really warm atmosphere and a good night sleep. The best for skiers.
