I was in the area to run a half-marathon, and the room was very affordable. People were nice, and I would stay there again, if only for the price. It is also close to Rutland, and that is wonderful city

Room Tip: All rooms were standard. You get what you pay for.

This hotel is nothing spectacular, but it's reasonably priced and isn't completely disgusting. The service wasn't bad and the location is good. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was clean. The small kitchen and fridge were nice to have.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS ONE!
We spent hole weekend in this inn and would never reserve this one! It's close to killington but too terrible to stay, here are the reasons:

1. Terrible Parking lot, not enough space and no ice melter spread.

2. No service room service. They didn't change the sheets and towels, they just basically just remade the bed. Nothing was refilled. They even didn't clear the trash bin......

3. Dirty room, the floor felt sandy, clearly they didn't clean the room well before we moved in.

4. Internet? NO WAY. You can easily find the WIFI but they never worked. You got linked in but suddenly dropped out and over and over.

5. Crap breakfast, I've never taken breakfast like this. Again toooooooo small dining room, impossible for everybody to fit in, you have to wait forever to get a table. They put food in a small corner of the room and the quality of the food is terrible.

We just spent the whole weekend there when all rooms on killington is booked. With such sold out night, initially I was glad to get rooms on killington road for 160/days on such a busy weekend, but this hotel is really disappointed us. First, the parking lot is so small that it's merely impossible to park in the hotel parking lot that you need to park on road side, this is really annoying that after our dinner, we need to almost park on the killington main road. Second, the hotel lacked with any basic room supply like shampoo or soap, there's even no hand soap for us, also, we only got clean towel for the very first day. Last, the wifi is barely useable, within our two days stay, the total time for the wifi to be usable is like within 5 minutes, for most of time our devices can't even have a IP address assigned....
I highly not recommend this place for a group of ppl to stay, if this is the last choice for you, go off-killington rd. instead of this hotel.

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the hillside inn. I have no idea what planet these people are living on that said this hotel was neat and clean...? the place was absolutely disgusting. As soon as i entered my room, I noticed stains on the walls and bedding. There was trash still in the room from the last guest. Multiple lights and the alarm clock did not work, so I called the front desk and requested a different room. So, i went to another room, which was not any better (except there was wallpaper which probably hid all kinds of grossness). There wasn't one blanket or sheet that didn't have rips, burn holes, or stains on them. The beds didn't even have fitted sheets on them. Aware of bed bugs and other hotel infestations, I always check the beds, including the mattresses. There were nasty stains and large holes on every mattress and box spring. I decided to bring in a blanket from my car so my daughter could at least stay warm... I really wished I had packed a few sleeping bags (I was almost ready to go out and buy one) There were also dead bugs under the glass of the framed painting. Oh, and you have no control over the heat...which is as non existent as the hot water. Obviously, if the hotel doesn't clean or replace disgusting bedding...I'm sure they wouldn't splurge on the hot water. The bathroom had urine stains all over the floor. The hotel Keys are actual keys..which makes me wonder what wack-job may have copied them the last time. It definitely doesn't make you feel safe knowing someone can easily make a copy of the room key. And there's no security what so ever. The parking situation is also a nightmare, the lot fits about 30 cars max for a hotel with 93 rooms. It was impossible to get much sleep, knowing how gross the beds were. So I decided to take a bunch of photos so I could warn other people...but they still make me sick to my stomach to look at them. I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel for an economy price, however, I do expect the rooms and beds to be clean. I will never, ever stay at this hotel...It's too bad this place really ruined my otherwise great skiing weekend.

Terrible. Don't waste your money; convenient but uncomfortable, inflexible staff, dirty, terrible breakfast, lousy beds, lousy rooms, crappy towels, lamps didn't work, early 1990's TV, no amenities apart from internet access...

Been skiing Killington for 40+ years; have stayed in both premium and budget hotels / motels in Killington, Rutland and in between. Unless we're looking for a resort experience we tend to stay in "value priced" hotels; after all, we're generally just there to ski and enjoy drinks and a meal out.

This was our first time at Hillside; it was "Rutland" priced but on the mountain road, so despite the lack of pool and hot tub, we opted for location on this occasion. At first glance, it appeared fine; then we went into the "reception / office / breakfast area". What a mess and the staff were your sort of your mom and pop foreign owners; don't come here if you're looking for friendliness or common courtesy. The parking lot and access to the hotel was dangerous; it was not properly plowed or maintained. The outside stairs (this is a motel), were crumbling; the rusted metal rebar showing through ever other step with garbage strewn about for added character. A nice touch is the paper sign on the room doors covered in tape to tell you how to operate the cheap handle / lock combination.

Cheap dirty carpets, uncomfortable beds, sub-Ikea quality furniture including a stand alone "closet", two miniature pillows per queen bed, small scratchy towels, lamps over bed didn't work; we particularly enjoyed the 1990 vintage 28" deep TV.

Skip breakfast in the morning; everything apart from the waffle machines was terrible; although they had decent waffle makers they served corn syrup instead of maple syrup. Really? Aren't we in Vermont people?

Seriously; do not waste your money in this place. Let them go under and allow a proper management team come in here to rip it apart, clean it up and offer a friendly experience...

We were booked for two nights and left after the first night; went elsewhere for more money, it was worth every penny to make the move! Oh yes, they wouldn't refund us for the second night...let's see what VISA has to say about that.

Room Tip: Just don't go there...

The hotel was nice for the price we paid, rooms were clean and good sized. The beds were comfortable, except the pillow, they were way too thin. Some corners were obviously cut in the construction of this hotel (recycled bathroom fixtures that say crowne plaza, towels that say Lufthansa, obviously reused hair dryer) but they didn't really detract much from the room. Never had a noise problem or temperature problem. Location is excellent, a couple miles from killington, and about 10 minutes from Rutland.

Breakfast was fair, coffee, bagels, pastries, cereal, oj and milk. One day they has a waffle maker, but I guess that's a weekend only thing.

However the biggest gripe for me was their added charge. Between booking and arriving the number of people went from 2 to 3, and then I was charged extra for this. This is crazy, the only type of hotel I've ever seen charge per person are all inclusive resorts. So basically, if you're going to have more than two people, just book two and say two when you check in. So you aren't greeted with hostility from the front desk and an added charge.

Basically, I would have no problem returning here but I wouldn't fall into their extra charge bull again.
