“Tasty, but noisy”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

The drinks and food were tasty, but it was so loud we had a hard time holding a conversation or hearing the waitress. The short ribs were dee-lish. It was a bit pricey.

“Wonderful, as always”
Reviewed 6 March 2014

We go to Ludlow every February to ski and we always look forward to our annual dinner at The Downtown Grocery. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and lovely. The wine list is robust, and the signature cocktails are very tasty. And the food is out of this world! Creative dishes abound on the seasonal menu, and we have never had an appetizer or an entree that we did not all love (we share everything so that everyone has a chance to sample the amazing variety of tastes and offerings). Save room for dessert. The breakfast for dessert is wonderful, as is the bread pudding and the trio of homemade ice creams. Our only regret is that we can dine here only once a year.

“Look, this is not Manhattan and no one wants it to be”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

Eclectic way overpriced food selection. Service is good, and if you like paying $15 for a tasty demitasse of squash soup, then this is the place for you. There are many unusual dishes, which have very good flavor, but the portions are tiny. Last time there for 'ladies nite', my soup and side salad meal was over $35, without beverage included. Salad was only average and was very small. I know people rave about this place, but it is not for us. My husband wont go because he would need to order 2 or more meals to be full - and no he is not overweight at all. And I cant see spending that kind of money for a meal, but if that is your style then enjoy.

“The Tops in Ludlow”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

By any measurement, the Grocery has to be considered the best restaurant in Ludlow. It features high-quality foods and a wonderful wine list. And you won't find a friendly hostess. The small bar also offers the same quality food. Your only concern may be parking. It's a very popular restaurant - so, if you can't find a parking space nearby, try the town's parking area off main street - it's well-worth the additional few steps to get to the Grocery.

“Recommended by a Ski Magazine”
Reviewed 1 March 2014

Food was good as promised but with reservations for 6pm and being a little early, we did not get dinner for a long time and were not out until 9pm. That much sitting after skiing is not good for the body. Loved the Panini and scallop appetizers- did not think much of the rice with lobster dishes- price was high for something that would not cost much to make at home.
