“Decent lunch but slipping vs prior years”
Review of Epic at Solitude

Epic at Solitude was the prime restaurant on Okemo Mountain for lunch and had a good dinner crowd as well but it sure looks like a flame out. Nothing beat 4 hours of morning skiing and then tucking into a kobe burger and a glass of Cabernet at Epic for lunch. I am extremely disappointed to report that Epic is in a downward spiral. Starting to look tired like a regular ski lodge lunch spot. Needs a repaint. Tables getting wobbly. Took 3 asks to get a fork today. The deluxe Kobe burger earlier in the week was pretty brutal and today's pulled pork was not not much to write home about. Sort of a glorified gourmet mountain fast food at best. The table next to be sat unbussed and cluttered for 20 minutes while there was still a line to get in. Lots of part time help around but not a professional manager to be seen overseeing. This was a pretty unique lunch spot for an east coast ski resort, sort of a Deer Valley dine feel but sadly it's moving south in a noticeable way. It's the only game in town in Solitude so it won't go out of business but its nothing special any longer.

After a morning skiing, it is nice to sit down next to the fire, have a beer, and have someone serve you lunch. No paper plates and lunch lines here. The staff is wonderful and friendly. They have a new chef this year, but the food is still great. I definitely recommend the Kobe Burger. My wife always goes for the lentil soup and the kids are able to find something they like.
