“Fabulous Green Mountain Getaway!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2013 via mobile

My wife & I spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Equinox Hotel with friends. Our experience was perfect from the moment we parked the car at the front door to the time we checked out. Brian at reception was more than welcoming; Robin, Sharon and the rest of the Marsh Tavern staff went out of their way to make our dining experience wonderful. Briton at the Spa... The best massage I've ever had! The resort has everything one requires for a Top Notch Vermont vacation. The room was immaculate and very comfortable. This was our second trip to the Equinox and it will not be our last

The Equinox is a very upscale hotel resort and there's a lot nice to say about it: The beds were comfortable and the down pillows were to die for. The buffet breakfast was wonderfully diverse and delicious with the food changed frequently (not your 4-hour old scrambled eggs and meats). The indoor heated pool looked very inviting. Having visited in November, I can't comment on the golf course, tennis or other outdoor facilities. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. So WHY, you ask, did I give this hotel a poor review? Because all the fine and fancy amenities are worthless if you can't get a good night's sleep!!! My room, room 240, was incredibly noisy! In the bedroom, the heat vent would periodically send out a metallic whooshing noise at about the noise level of a dishwasher. Not to be outdone, the bathroom would offer another periodic noise, a whirring sound that would cause the bathroom to vibrate and rattle. I fell asleep out of sheer exhaustion but after about 2 hours, the noises woke me and I was done sleeping. This was like having a room next to BOTH the airport (WHOOSH!) and the train station (RATTLE!). Maybe not all the rooms in the Equinox are like this, but be prepared. If you get this type of room, immediately ask for another! Or bring industrial strength earplugs.

Room Tip: Watch out for room 240!

Been here 4 times or more and the service remains excellent, rooms spacious and very comfortable. Great spa facility makes for a relaxing stay. Take advantage of the hiking opportunities instead of spending too much time at the outlets.

This is our second year spending the weekend at the Equinox before Thanksgiving and the Holiday rush. This was an extra special weekend for us because we got engaged in front of one of the beautiful fireplaces. Every staff member is extremely friendly and accommodating. We had an outstanding dinner at the Chop House. Our waiter Tom was probably one of the best waiters we have ever had. Can't wait to go back next year.

My wife and I just spent another great week-end at the Equinox resort in Vermont (just before Thanksgiving). This is our go-to place for a relaxing week-end. It's the only place we've ever been to more than twice, we've been there 4 times now. We've been twice in spring and once in fall, usually for golf to take on the 100 + traps on this very nice course. It was our first stay in the fall, golf was closed but we went hiking on the trails in the mountain, and of course shopping at all the outlets.
If you want a perfect week-end to rest, shop, hike, enjoy a SPA or many other things, this is a perfect place. Beautiful old Inn, amazing service (thanks Richard at the Concierge desk), a drink by the fire pit before supper, quiet, comfortable. Everything was perfect as usual.
See you again next year.

Room Tip: Stay in the hotel rather than Orvis Inn unless you want extra privacy.

I attended a conference at the Equinox Hotel and Resort recently. Everything about the resort is really well done. The front desk staff was amazing. The banquet staff was more than capable of handling our large group. And, the maintenance and housekeeping staff were lovely and accommodating, even with a large number of demanding individuals in-house. The Chop Restaurant, although a bit pricey, serves a fabulous selection on an a la carte basis. The more moderately priced Marsh Tavern offered simpler but still savory and enjoyable dinner options. The wait staff in both were really excellent. The room was nicely appointed. The bed and bedding were devine! And the amenities in the bath were well above the usual complimentary offerings. The Spa is not to be missed! The pool, exercise room and loung area offered a nice respite during the days I was there. This is the sort of resort that I can return to repeatedly. I never tire of the experience.

Green Features: This is a very "green conscience" resort. As a rewards member, you can choose not to have housekeeping and in exchange will receive additional rewards points.

I stayed at The Equinox for one night earlier this month and was very satisfied with my experience. The building has over two hundred years of history and is grand and well kept. The rooms are spacious and clean. The service was good as well. Best of all is the setting. Certain rooms have spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. I also ate at the attached Chop House steak house. The food was very good as was was the service.

There were only two negative things about my stay. The lobby had a slightly musty, stale smell and the television in our room had pretty poor picture quality.

Overall, though, I would recommend this hotel and be happy to return.
