Committed to sustainable agriculture, the Wilburton partners with Earth Sky Time Farm, its source for heirloom organic vegetables and fruits as well as hearth breads and pastries. Enjoy this bounty in the turn-of-the-century ambiance of the Billiard Room, the floral Green Room, or the Terrace Dining Room. In the summer and fall, relax with a cocktail on the marble veranda overlooking the Green Mountains. In the winter, enjoy the warmth of the fireplace in the Billiard Room. Our restaurant is only open on select occasions so please call in advance.

Just stayed at the Wilburton Inn last week. Room was very clean and comfortable. The inn gives you an esoteric feeling of nostalgia from the 1920's. Phenomenal art throughout the building. The Innkeeper's , Albert and Georgette are delightful hosts. Chef Didier should be ranked as one of the best chefs in the state of Vermont. I have been dreaming about his rack of lamb for four days. The other guests in the dining room that evening were also ecstatic after their dinner. A hidden gem of the Northeast.

Tuesday Vegetarian Farm Night..........is definitely NOT gourmet fare or a relaxing experience.

Our group was seated 45 minutes after our reservation. The table was not prepared; the owner was scurrying around to place water glasses and utensils on the table as we were seated. Drinks were not readily available, even after multiple requests. When we were told to queue up to serve ourselves, there were no plates. A member of our party finally assigned herself as our waitress to refill water and to fetch extra silverware and dessert.

The food! It may have been grown on a luscious organic farm nearby, but it was prepared for the masses! Aside from the fresh tomato salad and coarse cut-slaw, we helped ourselves from huge steam trays of casserole-like mixtures. Frankly, it all tasted the same, no matter what ingredients poked their heads out of the saucy pans! The highlights: vanilla ice cream with a few fresh blackberries for dessert and gentle riffs of guitar music.

Since there was no designated wait staff, unless you had ready cash in hand to pay the bartender, we had to scramble around the tables to find the operator of the hand held credit card machine to pay the bill.

Very strange and chaotic evening for what is described in reviews as a fine estabishment. In all honesty, we were told "it would be a zoo" when we made our reservation for 12. Unfortunately, it proved to be a prophetic description!

The dining room at the Wilburton Inn is in the mansion's former billiard room. It's a lovely setting for very good cuisine. The breads are provided by the innkeepers son, a professional baker. And the French chef, who sources his ingredients locally, turns out delicious meals.

I attended the Wilburton Inn's Farm Night event this last Tuesday and it was wonderful. All food was grown by the innkeepers' family farm and was accompanied by great selection of Vermont mircobrews. We dined on the marble terrace and enjoyed looking out at amazing views. There was great live music and dancing too. Prices were very reasonable. This is what makes Vermont special.
