Although my husband and I visit Manchester two or three times a year, we didn't discover Cafe Mamie until a few weeks ago. We are so happy we did! It is located at the back of one of the buildings at the Southern Vermont Art Center, which is a just a little bit off the beaten path but well worth a visit. No matter what your level of interest in the art may be, the setting is serene and so very beautiful, with this lovely Cafe a true bonus. It is a beautiful room, with patio seating overlooking the mountains and rolling lawns, and gracious and attentive servers. The menu offers a terrific selection of unusual, colorful, flavor-packed soups, salads and sandwiches, with a thoughtful selection of wines by the glass (I believe there is also a full bar). We did our best to eat slowly because we just did not want our meal to end! Then we prolonged it by ordering some of their french-press coffee and a lemon bar complimented by fresh raspberry sauce--just divine! If you are looking for a memorable meal in a peaceful setting, Cafe Mamie should be at the top of your "To Go To" list.
