“Time to Move on!”
Reviewed 2 October 2012

We have been staying at the Chalet almost every early fall for about 25 years with several other couples to play golf and enjoy the local restaurants, sight seeing and shopping. In addition, female members of our group regularly stay here in the late spring for a local golf tournament. We chose the Chalet for its location, spacious rooms and access to the private Manchester Country Club, which is the primary reason we have stayed there. We know from prior experience to book the larger rooms in the Annex away from the road for quiet and privacy. Price has been a factor but not a major consideration.

Four couples stayed at the Chalet this past Friday and Saturday evening. It was our last stay and the girls will not be returing in the sping. We had very unpleasant encounter with the owner and the place is in serious need of an update. The check-in process is entirely manual and laborious even with some of the paperwork completed in advance of our arrival. Physical keys are still used rather than electronic key cards and the rooms we prefer have no access to the limited Wi-Fi.

Saturday afternoon eight of us attempted to watch the Ryder Cup on a small CRT TV with about a 19 inch screen and very poor color. These are TVs that if one placed them at the curb with a "Free" sign on them would still be sitting there days later! The picture in the TV in our room, which is where we camped out with our snacks and drinks, was mostly purple. We tried to move to the adjoining room but discovered the TV was inoperable. The owner stopped by to see if he could fix the problem. It turned out the maid had inadvertently unplugged the TV. (It was just as bad as the one we were watching.) We inquired as to his plans to update the TVs. His response was that a flat screen won't fit inside the cabinet and that if we wanted to pay more money maybe he could do something. We indicated that we'd be willing to pay a higher rate if he updated the place. We suggested that the cabinets weren't realy needed since the dressers had plenty of drawer space and that the dresser could easily accommodate a larger flat screen TV or he could hang it on the wall. His response to that was the if we didn't like it we could stay somewhere else! We plan on doing just that (all eight of us and others who would normally return in the spring). We suggest all of you out there take this owners advise and "stay somewhere else"!

First time in Vermont. When we arrived we were quite surpirsed to see how spacious the rooms were and how clean it was. There were two large beds and a pull out couch per room!! Great location that had a great price! Will consider for our next visit to the Vermont.
Though our experience with the male staff member was questionable. We simply inquired where the ice machine was, and he told us the third building on the left. We went out the door he gestured to and walked along. THERE WAS NO THIRD BUILDING ON THE LEFT! We returned with the heavy cooler and asked again where it was. The employee seemed not to care and had his head buried in the computer. He was not helpful, and we even tried to look for it from another perspective of the hotel. No ice machine!

11 of us booked rooms for a weekend away. Pricing was terrific. Rooms are outdated, but very clean with comfortable beds. We enjoyed the pool, and were even allowed to stay out by it chatting late into the night. Very close to everything! if you are looking for something upscale or fancy, this isn't the place, but all in all an extremely comfortable, clean, welcoming motel.

This motel needs some sprucing up. Felt more like a $60/night side of the highway kinda place you might stay in a pinch. Definitely not worth the $125 or so we spent on it. The rooms were dank and musty and in need of an update. Asked for an ironing board and got a 14" long travel sized thing. Not impressed.

We had a family visit...3 rooms...grandchildren, adults, etc. The staff was so helpful and accomodating to our needs, which changed a couple of times. There is a huge area for playing outside for the kids along with picnic tables, grills and of course, the pool--which everyone loved. The rooms are big ( double queens with sofa) and have refrig and coffee machine. The Chalet is an older motel, but the place is clean, beds are comfortable and again the Staff is great. We would recommend it. Close to everything.

Room Tip: Rooms in the annex are bigger and quieter and have large outside area for playing and cooking outsid...

This was my second visit. The price, location, room size and cleanliness all make it a good value. My room was in need of some maintenance, particularly the windows. The back windows needed a good washing and paint and the bathroom vent window wouldn't open. Another plus is that there are several good restaurants nearby. Manchester center is only a mile or two away.

We stayed at this motel last year and we will be going back again this June. It seems to be the nicest of the reasonably priced motels. We did not stay in the main building; instead we asked for a room on the other side of the highway as far away from any road traffic as one could get. The room (219) was at the end of the building, it was clean, it was very large and it met our needs for the two nights we stayed. The price was exceptionally good and the motel is a short ride from the center of the shopping area. As I said we will stay there again next month.
