Stayed one night on trip from Montreal to Boston with family renting two rooms. Hotel rooms appeared externally to be very clean. The grounds were beautifully manicured.
However, we were ultimately disappointed. The defining initial feature of both rooms was a strong musty smell that persisted even after opening the doors and windows for several minutes. Clearly something was causing this odor, perhaps mold embedded in the carpeting or walls.
The two double mattresses in one of the rooms were both very uncomfortable and clearly past their life expectancy. The linen however was impeccable. Both rooms were equipped with an iron and an ironing board conveniently attached to the outside of the bathroom door. This strange location completely blocked the bathroom when it was used and made an otherwise nicely furnished room look like a utility closet. The breakfast buffet was barely minimal and, surprisingly for Vermont, featured a gooey tasteless corn-syrup to accompany the otherwise excellent, self-prepared waffles. Breakfast was served on environmentally disastrous Styrofoam plates and plastic eating utensils.
The one interaction with the staff (we arrived relatively late) was completely transactional and followed-up with a phone call to our room asking if we were comfortable.More
