On a recent trip up from Brooklyn, my wife and I were visiting friends in Vermont for some good times and great food.
Whenever we travel we always like to ask around and see where the best place to eat is. There's a ton of great restaurants in the area serving locavore cusine, so we knew we were in for a treat.
The place that we kept hearing about was the restaurant at the The Relucant Panther Hotel. So we figured we would give it a shot.
From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. The hotel was lovely and everyone that worked there was so nice.
The inside of the restauarant was beautiful, but the real treat is to eat outside. They had this amazing outdoor patio where you can enjoy your meal by an adorable pond, fountain and fire pit, with a gorgeous view of the mountains! If the weather's nice, I highly suggest you sit outside.
Our waitress was charming and helped navigate us through their extensive wine list. She also helped us with the menu, because we pretty much wanted to order everything on it.
The food was just amazing. The quail appetizer and duck liver mousse were heavenly and the ceviche and oysters were fresh and delicious. For entree's we had the short rib, steak and halibut, all of which were incredible.
Dessert also did not dissapoint. The chocolate stout cake was spot on and the "coffee and doughnuts" was like nothing we've ever had before. Seriously order two, you will thank me.
Altogether it was a fantastic meal and a perfect evening. We will definitely be returning to the Reluctant Panther, and from what we saw, will be planning on staying as a guest at the hotel the next time we visit Vermont.
