A wonderful Inn!!! My husband and I went--very quaint. We stayed in a deluxe room. They offer tea time 2-5p.m. with all the fixings.

The Inn has been offering Afternoon Tea for longer than anyone remembers and some of us get a little jaded about what a nice feature it is, especially during these cool fall afternoons. It is the little things that make a hotel stay special and we know that our Afternoon Tea is one of them. That and our caring and capable staff. I'm thrilled that you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again soon.

The Middlebury Inn is a wonderful place to stay. I stayed there while visiting my mother last week and had a great corner room with a very comfortable bed and cozy bathroom. The staff there is always very friendly and accommodative. Got a ride in their 1926 Otis Elevator - apparently one of Otis' first elevators ever in the northeast! Loved my stay there. Wish it were longer!

We all love to show off our 80 some year old Otis Elevator - it's not only fun to ride in, but fun to operate and I and my staff love the fact that it's a feature that makes us just a little different from our corporate hotel neighbor up the street. And that's what keeps our customers returning; the little quirks and niceties that you look for in an historic Vermont Inn. Thank you for your kind comments.

We stayed at the inn the first week of August. Upon arrival we were greeted nicely and allowed to check in early....always a plus. Old and nostalgic....quite a find. I was pleasently suprised at how clean the inn was....kudo's to the staff. My only misgiving was the exhaust fan in our bathroom...turned it on and it sounded as if there was a motocross race in the ceiling....ha ha. I would stay here anytime we visit Middlebury and my wife enjoyed the afternoon tea each day. Thanks to the staff at the inn for making us feel at home.P.S. The cheff at Morgans Tavern makes an awesome Shrimp and Grits....in Vermont???

Room Tip: Ask for the historic inn for your lodging.

Our Chef came to us from a sister property in South Carolina, so he knows his Shrimp and Grits and our patrons in Morgan's Tavern are often pleasantly surprised, just as you were. I appreciate the 'Kudos' for him as well as our staff. They all work incredibly hard to make everything perfect and it's nice to know their efforts are noticed.

The Middlebury Inn was lovely and the staff was gracious, friendly and helpful. We were even given an upgrade. Our room was very comfortable and modern without losing the gracious ambience of a bygone era. We enjoyed a drink at the bar and then moved to the porch dining area for a wonderful dinner of duck breast. Our stay at the Middlebury was perfect in every way.

The feel of the Middlebury Inn when you walk in the door is one of gracious historic hospitality and I thank you for recognizing that. A 186 year old building will sometimes show it's age and a staff hired in the 21st century may not appreciate all the nuances of old time customer service, but we feel we have just the right combination to make for a welcoming and comfortable stay. thank you again.

Staying at the Middlebury Inn was like stepping back in time to a more gracious era. The inn is beautiful and wonderfully decorated downstairs. We stayed in Rooms 109 and 110, which are a king room adjoined by a bathroom to a room with 2 twin beds. It was perfect for our trip with our teenager. The room is on the front of the inn by the road, however, there is little traffic at night, and the air conditioner drowned out any outside noise. The afternoon refreshments, including lemonade, iced tea, hot tea, coffee and homemade cookies, were delicious. The lobby is spacious and inviting. One afternoon there was a person playing the piano. We really enjoyed the wonderful buffet breakfasts, which included homemade oatmeal, fresh fruit, delicious granola, cereal, eggs, and bacon. We also had lunch at the inn, and it was also very good. All of the ingredients were fresh. The staff at the inn were all very pleasant and accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

One of the unique features of the Middlebury Inn, and in fact, many historic hotels is the variety of room layouts and bed combinations that are available. In the 1800's, they knew nothing about straight, boxy room configurations and the family suite in which you stayed is a perfect example.
I'm also please with your comments about Breakfast and Lunch. Our culinary staff work very hard to give our guests great service and delicious meals prepared with Vermont local ingredients. I'm happy you appreciated the effort.

My husband & I stayed in room 247 - a lovely large double with two queen size 4-poster beds & 2 bathrooms! - in early August 2013. We could not have had a better time, even though paint could have been a bit fresher in the bath rooms (it will take stripping down rather than reapplication to make it right).

On Sunday evening we dined in the Morgan Grill & very much enjoyed our dinners. As the dining room was closed on Mondays & Tuesdays we asked for recommendations for places to dine in town within walking distance & just loved Fire & Ice. See my review there...

The staff was more than accommodating. Remember to ask if they offer a discount - as they do! - for AAA. Ask too to get the 'pre-booked discounted breakfast' - who wants to go in search of breakfast in a strange town when there's a very nice meal right at hand?

It was obvious that the hotel caters to parents taking their kids on the college tour, but I can easily imagine myself back here again, especially as the leaves turn in the fall. It really is good value but DO keep in mind that front facing rooms are exposed to a busy road.

We would love to have you come back this fall. All indications are that we're going to have wonderful fall foliage and we plenty of rooms available on select dates between now and October 20th. You're correct that we host a number of Middlebury College families over the course of the year, but it's by no means our only market and at this time of year it's all about the leaf peepers. Thank you for your kind words about my staff and we're thrilled you enjoyed your stay.

This hotel is centrally located and a few minutes walk from several good restaurants. The Annex offers large-sized motel style rooms with AC, sitting area, desk, fridge, WiFi and comfy beds. Even with windows the rooms are on dimly lit. The $9.50 buffet breakfast has a good selection of fresh fruit, granola, eggs, bacon/sausages, waffles & oatmeal. All the staff were pleasant and helpful.

If you read enough comments about the Middlebury Inn, you'll notice that the Annex isn't always treated with respect, so thank you for your kind comments. We think our latest addition (1968) has many redeeming features and I appreciate your pointing them out. And our breakfast buffet is a winner - you won't find this selection and service at our competitors!
