Our 3-day, inn-to-inn cycling weekend came to an abrupt halt when we found a flat tire compounded by a valve issue on my husband's bike. We had no guide or van support, but innkeeper Dan Brown came to our rescue, not only trying to fix the tire himself, but taking it to a local bike store for a consultation and parts. All this when he had a scheduled doctor's appointment and an unexpected problem with the inn's hot water heater. Somehow, he handled it all, and we were off for a great afternoon of cycling. Loved our room (jacuzzi soothed sore leg muscles), dinner in Jessica's diningroom and breakfast, especially the fresh berries on my inn-made granola. We'll go out of our way to return.

My husband and I enjoyed our week at the Swift House Inn. The owners were very warm and welcoming. The staff was attentive and always friendly. They provided us with excellent information and recommendations for area attractions. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the grounds were lovely and peaceful. Our full breakfast was amazing each morning. I loved to be able to sit in a screened in porch or on the patio with a cup of coffee and home made cookies that were available all day. It was such a lovely week we did not want to leave and hope to return for the fall folliage.

Did an overnight with the kids. Romms were very nice and clean. The sofabed was fine for the kids, but didn't look terribly comfortable. The staff and amenities were excellent though as was the included breakfast. Very nice grounds and common areas. The bathrooms were very nice and clean but could probably due with a regrouting. Overall experience was very positive though and I would go back anytime.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the Carriage House rooms...

We stayed here as the jump-off point for a 4-day bike trip around VT/NY. It was delightful. Breakfast was especially good. The staff was helpful and friendly. The free cookies in the lobby were yummy. They were kind enough to let us leave our car in their parking lot for the whole trip, even though we weren't staying there at the end.

My husband and I just came back from our stay at the Swift House and we had a very nice time. We were in the Gardent Room and even though it is not in the main house (short walk to the main door) the room was lovely and cozy. I liked liked the idea of having my own entrance and I only wished it was summer so that we could have sat out side on the attached deck. When we got there we were warming greeted and was given a glass of wine as compliments of the Inn.The bathroom has a large sucken tub but a small sink area and if you put the heat on in the bathroom ahead of time it gets very warm and cozy. The breakfast was great ,try the french toast .The restaurant Jessica was closed but we did find a great place called Fire and Ice. A most go to . Will definately recomend this place to my friends .Thanks for a great weekend!

Room Tip: if you want selcusion the Garden Room is a good choice, other wise choose the Swift Room a little mo...

We went to the Swift House Inn looking for a relaxing, romantic stay. It was just what we were looking for! We stayed for three nghts in the Garden Room. It was perfect! Even though it is stated as being in the main house, it really has its own entrance in the back. We liked the feeling of seclusion. The room was beautiful and the bed was probably the most comfortable we had slept in. The bathroom was freezing at times...but they had a nice heater light in the ceiling. We did have dinner at Jessica's which was wonderful! The sommolier was great! The owners were very friendly and had a lot of interesting insights. We would recommend this Inn to our family and friends and look forward to returning in the future.

I stayed at the Swift House Inn for what i thought was going to be a 2 night stay, however was abuptly advised that they did not have a room for us on night number 2. The Hotel Owner and Front Desk attendant were very curt in their response. Their idea of customer service was to call the Inn down the street and give us their number and nothing more. A more appropriate response would have been to act as if they actually cared what their guests thought of their experience rather than to bluntly act as if they could do nothing. No attempt was made to accomodate us for our inconvenience, they should have at least offered us a discount for their lack of management and oversight. The best part of this experience was that i found the Waybury Inn on the other side of town and the experience couldnt have been more different as the staff was extremely accomodating and helful.

Room Tip: Dont stay in the Gate House as its not pictured on their website and really is another Victorian hou...

Vermont25, Owner at Swift House Inn, responded to this reviewResponded 16 March 2012

This is a difficult review to respond to so here are just the facts. All rooms for Saturday night were reserved before the guest called. The guest called on Friday afternoon and booked a room for that night, Friday for a one night stay. The guest checked in on Friday night , signed the paperwork for the one night stay. The guest is an alumnus of a visiting college basketball team which won their Friday night play-off game and thus earned the position to play in another NCAA play-off game Saturday night. The owner was talking with each guest at Saturday breakfast and during this casual conversation the guest said they had decided to stay another night. All rooms were still reserved. The owner immediately had calls made by the desk clerk and found options for the guest to stay that night, including the Waybury Inn, an Inn we highly recommend. We are very sorry that we could not accommodate this guest
The Gate House is one of our three guest buildings and the Inn's website has several pages, pictures and descriptions of every room and the building.
