My wife and I decided to come out to Vermont for our Honeymoon since we could do all of the the things we love out there with it's gorgeous scenery. We decided to stay at The Phineas Swann since they are dog friendly and we needed to bring one of our pups with us. Before we even made it out from California Lynne and Darren put together our reservations for our activities, kayaking, cycling, and horseback riding. When we came in late we were greeted by our wonderful host and hostess. We were also greeted by a bottle of congratulatory Champagne in our room.

We didn't realize how dog friendly this place was from the dog decor to the dog treats and bed in the room. Lynne even got our dog to like her and allow her to take her on a walk. Our dog is a tough sell. It took me a year and a half. So that says a lot about Lynne.

We loved everything about the place from the quirky decorations (bird houses everywhere) to the beautiful gardens. The breakfasts were amazing and different everyday. You didn't start your day hungry. They did their best to make sure all of the food was local. If you get the chance to be there for one of their Farm to Table dinners do so. Darren's supper was delectable and you get to meet some of the locals.

One night they had the fire pit put together and we sat around making S'mores with some of the other guests by the river in the back of the property. Darren and Lynne gave us the fixings for the s'mores. They did their best to go above and beyond for everyone staying there. We have talked about coming back out again when we have the chance. We couldn't have asked for better for our honeymoon and our first trip out to New England. Thank you both very much for a wonderful honeymoon!

We love the fact that the two of you and your pup came all the way from California just to enjoy the Phineas Swann, and all the great activities we offer here at the top of Vermont. You two certainly got a great smorgasbord of fun during your stay, with kayaking, cycling, hiking, walking along the Trout River in our backyard, relaxing in the gardens, dining at one of our Farm 2 Table Dinners. We're glad we could participate in the beginning of your married life, and we thank you for all the kind thoughts. We hope we get to see you every anniversary!

This place is cute and welcoming and all around really really nice. We were looking for a cozy country B&B feel and were not disappointed. I scored huge brownie points with the lady for booking this one. Highly recommended.

We visited this area to give us access to some great hiking and biking (and we found it). What we got as an amazing bonus, was not just a nice place to stay, but an incredible place to stay. We decided to bring along our medium-size dog and she was treated like royalty, just like we were. We loved the Terrier Suite in the Carriage House. Cozy and beautiful! There were so many little details that Darren & Lynn (owners) provided that we really felt the value and that they could read our mind about what we might need - snacks, microwave, directions, recommendations, wifi, air conditioning. And there we so many things we didn't even have time to appreciate during our 1 night stay - outdoor hot tub, gardens, movies, board games, in-room jet tub, and more. They are wonderful, the inn is wonderful (I haven't even mentioned breakfast yet - yum on the blueberry pancakes and maple bacon), and the town is quaint. We ate lunch at The Inn, and dinner at The Black Lantern. We would love to come back in fall and winter too. Thank you so much!

Upon arrival to the B&B we were immediately struck by how pleasant and attrractive the location was. Being a slightly larger group (six in total including one couple) the accommodation logistics could have been a little challenging. However, the owners, did a fantastic job in situating our group in a format that made sense and comfortable for us all.
Due to commitments, we required an early start with breakfast and coffee at 3:30 am, a task that Darren and Lynne kindly fulfilled.
During the evening, they assisted us in utilizing the fire pit and eating marshmellows, well above and beyond a usual function of any B&B.
Overall, if I/ we have cause to return to that beautiful area of VT, we absoluely would call upon the services of Phineas Swann for our stay. Thanks guys.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the suites by the river

Thanks for the compliments, Phil. We enjoyed having your cycling group and only regret we got to enjoy your company for one evening. But you make a good point for groups thinking of staying at the Phineas: We're a B&B and people think just two-person rooms. And while we have three of those in our Main House, with our one- and two-bedroom suites in the Carriage House and our larger suites in the River House, we can make arrangements for any group up to 24 people!

Lynn and Darren are the best hostess and host. They make you feel right at home. The breakfasts are delicious and all the added touches, cookies, wine and very good coffee. The only problem was that our time was way too short. Will be back again and of course will promote a trip to Vermont and a stay at the Phineas Swann.

Thanks for the compliments and for being our guest. We're glad you enjoyed the coffee, cookies and wine (what a great combination - my favorite!). The only way to solve the problem you mentioned -- not enough time -- is to plan a return visit to the Phineas Swann! Let us know when we can host you again!
