“Very nice museum, well displayed”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

We particularly enjoyed the way the history of the state was explained, with a nice section on the native people who were here before. The section on the civil war is particularly well done, although both Revolutionary and more recent history is alos well done. A photo essay on organic farmers was very thought-provoking. Well worth the time.

“Wonderful, something for everyone!”
Reviewed 23 September 2013 via mobile

I loved the exhibits, great information, and diverse exhibits. My mothers family is from Vermont and it was great seeing so many historic things that my Mom talked about ( that happened when she was growing up ) in the museum.

“Great little museum”

I left here wishing I was a Vermonter. Very informative, well done exhibit. A nice little treat and it was a hot day so the air conditioning was very welcome!

“A Little "Gem" for Adults and Kids”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

Delightfully surprised by this quaint museum we stumbled upon the hills of Vermont. Spent 2 hours and learned about the active role VT has played in our nation's history and that of the "local history". A nice mixture of "hands on" activities, mini videos, and nice artifacts. Especially loved the 1950's houses and the chuckles it brought by my dad remembering back then....

We were intrigued by the stuffed catamount just inside the entrance - a lion shot back in the late 1800s. Also, do not miss the grandfather clock on the first floor. The Green Mountain Boys, were VT's militia headed by Ethan Allen, yes, the Ethan Allen who went onto furniture! And many don't know, that the VT military was a key part of the Battle of Gettysburg too....

While we were there, a group from a local school came to visit and we very much enjoyed interacting with them as they learned about their ancestors. Kids and adults should like this museum alike!
