Bragg Farm Sugar House & Gift Shop

A very educational experience. This is a small maple syrup farm. Our guide, who was actually a member of the family who owned the farm, was very pleasant and did a good job explaining the process of collecting the maple sugar. The gift shop had a large selection of reasonably priced items. The only downside of the presentation was that it wasn't the season for gathering and collecting sugar. We had to watch a video of the process instead. We stopped on our tour of the New England States. This stop was a nice break from driving but I wouldn't plan to make it a day trip. We only spent about an hour here.

We only had a little time to stop here, but it was well worth it. There’s an informational video and you can see the buckets and equipment used to make maple syrup, as well as sample the four different kinds. The shop offers great prices, so a good place to pick up gifts and souvenirs, such as maple syrup in pretty glass bottles or jugs, maple sugar candy, or a Vermont-themed items. The lady working there was really friendly and helpful.

We were headed to Montpelier and took a little side trip to Bragg Farm and Sugar House. Bragg Farm continues to produce maple syrup using the old fashion, traditional method. We enjoyed our visit. Saw the equipment used to make maple syrup, watched a short film about the process, and spoke with a gentleman who explained more about the two methods of making maple syrup (traditional with buckets and more modern with tubing).
Helpful Information: Get a large maple cremee (delicious, wish we could get these in Virginia) and take the time to eat it on the porch while taking in the country view. Also, go to Monteplier(just a few miles away) to take in a play at the Lost Nation Theater. We went to see Urinetown, an engaging musical. The musical was tremendous...with an extremely talented cast.

We came across Bragg while on a Girls Road Trip and stopped in to check out the maple syrup. I was pleasantly surprised at what we encountered on the inside. Not only can you buy original Vermont Maple Syrup but they'll also be happy to ship it home for you.. Staff was delightful and the selection of Non Maple Syrup gifts was excellent.... Plus I understand they have the best Maple Creamees around... :)

We watched a 15 minute video, which, while old, was actually really educational. The wo,an at the counter was super friendly and we learned a lot. It wasn't the season for harvesting the syrup, but we still enjoyed our visit and the maple creemie was delicious!
