3 different trails go up a tower. I encourage the long way down as you get a bird's eye view of the city. Really cool.

Just go and hike to the tower. In the Fall you can see beautiful leaves and the mountains that surround the area. It is much easier to get there if you ask a local. Depending on which way you exit, you can come out behind the State Capitol building. There are really interesting benches and rock formations that look like some prehistoric stove that can be seen. Bring your camera. Also if you are daring and they are in season, have some wild edible raspberries. They are the best.

The short walk to this observation tower is right up our alley, but the drive to get there was not! Look at JWren's review also. "The second" entrance he refers to is the way our GPS instructed us to get to the park. It was crazy! Steep and winding! We continued down the road when we exited, which was JWren's "first" entrance... piece of cake.

Cool that you can walk up the (modern) stairs inside the tower. The view from the tower was wonderful. The walk up the path was refreshing after being in the city.

Go see this park, but go armed with directions from someone else than your GPS!!

The park is on the hill behind the city. It has two entrances, one on either end of the city. The first one we tried was the one closest to the interstate exit. After driving UP there it was closed off to traffic. So we went through town around to the other. We thought the first entrance was steep to get to, the second was almost scary steep. We made it up there and hiked up to the tower. Cool view, cool place to see once you get up there.

We were looking for a nice park to share a box pizza & bottle of wine for a afternoon picnic. Was a little surprised at the lack of facilities at the park. Picnic tables sparse, unmarked roads and trails. We did find a spot to relax and enjoy but not what we were expecting......
