“Indian Summer at its best”
Reviewed 10 November 2013

We spent two nights at the High Hill Inn in October 2013 and enjoyed the hospitality of Ann-Marie and Joe. The High Hill Inn is just a short drive from Montpelier, the cozy capital of Vermont with some really good restaurants and bars. The situation of the house is spectacular, overlooking a meadow with a pond, trees and and a colorful view on the surrounding hills. Very peaceful and relaxed. Breakfast is wonderful, we enjoyed the conversations with our hosts and the interesting guests, sitting at a common table. A relaxed and very pleasant stay. We will be back!

Stayed here as part of a road trip around New England. Chose this based on prices and previous excellent reviews. Joe and Ann-Marie were very accommodating and welcoming. As it was quiet on the night we stayed got a room upgrade to the front of the house to get some beautiful views of the sunset and the mist in the morning. Breakfast was really good and all cooked from scratch and fresh. Natural ingredients used from various local shops and farms. Joe and Ann-Marie very helpful and had a good chat to them at breakfast, various recommendations made. We went to the CO-OP to get sandwiches for the road ahead the next day (as recommended) and had a pizza at Angelenos (recommended the Three Penny Taphouse but it was closed) the night before. Free wi-fi at this inn as well which was also a plus.

Strongly recommend staying here as very good value for money and the hosts could not have been more accommodating.

We had a great experience at this B&B. The room was lovely and so spacious. Our schedule was packed while we were in Montpelier. We arrived very late (around 2am) and had to leave very early (around 7am) and they went out of their way to make sure we were settled in when we arrived and woke to make us breakfast early, even sending us off with baggies of food to eat throughout the day. Joe and Ann-Marie, the innkeepers were such warm and friendly people as well.

Can't recommend it enough. Only wish we had more time to actually spend at the inn, enjoying the grounds, the view and the room.

We found this great B&B online and it was a great experience! Our hosts Ann-Marie and Joe made us feel at home immediately! The view from the back deck was everything we were looking for in a scenic retreat from driving around Vermont. We were so comfortable, we would have stayed a second night but understandably they were booked solid and we were lucky enough to get in on a last minute cancellation. The organic breakfast was unbelievable! fresh rolls, fresh breads, Joe's famous French toast and killer bacon. The property and our hosts made it a great Vermont memory. Thank You!

High Hill Inn was fabulous. We had never been to Vermont and needed a place to accommodation 6 people. We were also looking for a place that could accommodate an outside wedding, as this was our main reason for coming to Vermont. We started searching the Web and came across High Hill Inn. After calling High Hill and speaking with Ann-Marie, we knew that this was the place for us. The pictures on their website do not do High Hill justice. High Hill is so charming that I could not imagine any place better to have a wedding.

We arrived after dark, after driving in from Boston Logan Airport, and we were immediately greeted by Joe. He welcomed us into their home, and we immediately felt at ease. Joe helped us carry our luggage to our rooms. Each room was charming and beautifully decorated. The rooms were very spacious and each had their own TV.

We asked Joe for some recommendations for dinner, and he provided us with an extensive book they created to help us choose a restaurant. Out the door we went to drive for a 3 mile drive to downtown Montpelier for a wonderful dinner at JP Morgan’s.

After a very restful night we were treated with the most delicious breakfast. It started off with Joe’s homemade Banana Nut Bread and Apple Cake. Soon after that came a bowl of fresh fruit, organic toast, apple bacon and scrambled eggs. We did not want to leave the table, and would probably still be sitting there if the Wedding Officiant, Kathryn Blume had not arrived. Out to the meadow we went for a beautiful wedding service.

The next day, we had planned on having breakfast again at High Hill, but our plans had changed and we had to leave early and head to Gloucester MA, for a Whale Watching excursion. Since we did not have time to eat breakfast, Ann-Marie and Joe loaded us up with more Banana Nut bread to take on our trip. We could not have been more grateful.

If you love the beauty of the great outdoors, and want great accommodations and perfect hosts, then High Hill Inn is the place for you.

My husband and I stayed at the High Hill Inn during a weekend getaway to Vermont to celebrate our first anniversary. We stayed in the Mountain View King room which was very comfortable, clean, and spacious with lovely views. The inn is close to town but quiet and relaxing. We loved the beautiful setting, especially with close to peak foliage, and enjoyed the horses, goats, chickens and cats outside. Ann-Marie and Joe were gracious hosts that were eager to make us feel at home and enjoy our stay in Montpelier. They also cooked a delicious breakfast with fresh local ingredients. We ended up at the High Hill Inn by chance and are glad we were so lucky. We hope be be back. Thanks so much Ann-Marie and Joe!

My husband and I traveled to Vermont to celebrate our 30th anniversary. This was a dream vacation and the High Hill Inn met out expectations. It was beautiful, clean, just the right distance from town, had a marvelous view, and the food was wonderful. Joe and Ann-Marie are wonderful hosts. Cookies and the most amazing scones I've ever eaten were waiting on us at our arrival. They serve a full homemade breakfast which was also outstanding. We had the upstairs loft and it was very cozy and private. The bed was quite comfortable and it has a separate t.v. room attached to it. If you are an animal lover like I am, you will enjoy their two sweet outdoor kitty cats and they also have goats by the barn. I would highly recommend the High Hill Inn.

Room Tip: The only thing that might be an issue, especially if you are very tall, is that the loft bedroom has...
