The food was excellent and the dining areas are comfortable - in converted parlor rooms. Our main server was charming and accommodating but the pacing of our food delivery was very off and hopefully just a fluke. The burger on home made English muffin is outstanding.

We live in the Norwich, Vermont area and Carpenter and Main is our first choice for dining whenever we can get there. The atmosphere is fun and inviting - especially if you can get a table in the bistro section. The menu is really superb - and everything we have ever chosen is delectable! Their mesclun salad with duck confit and warm potato salad is a winner - and we cannot go there without ordering the house-made tater tots with house-made catsup. The menu is configured into "morsels", "small plates" and "larger plates" and it makes for a wonderful opportunity to try different dishes without becoming over-fed. The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff always courteous and helpful. We can't wait to go back!

Carpenter & Main is a pleasant dining experience and a nice place to stop for a cocktail. The restaurant is split into two rooms: one is formal dining and the other has more of a homey feel. The staff is very friendly and the bartenders are knowledgable. It is a very responsibly price menu for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere.

After checking out the menu on line Cathy and I had great expectations for a fun evening dining experience. We arrived without reservations and waited a short time as the place was packed. This wait and the fact it was packed led us to believe we were going to have a great meal.
The menu has a long list of very intriguing items. We decided to have several of the small selections and share them. Cathy ordered the flatbread and I had lamb meatballs. The flat bread was very tough and dry resembling a frozen pizza that had been microwaved. My lamb meatballs had not flavor of lamb. We agreed to try one more item in hopes of better fair. We ordered Thia Mussels in curry and coconut juice. No curry flavor and the lime leaves in the dish left a flavor resembling bad perfume. The service was amature pretending to be professional.
I would not reccommend.

First trip back after about six or seven years. The morsel and appetizer choices were very intriguing. We got four to share and all were interesting and well prepared. I ordered steak frites for dinner which was a little bland and the steak sauce wasn't my style (too much apple sauce flavor). There take on the Banana split for dessert was also excellent. Overall I was very happy as were the rest of my party.
