“Staff were fantastic!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 February 2012

I stayed at this lodge with my ski club (about 40 people) during the weekend of Feb. 11-13, 2012. I had suffered a ski accident the day before, and arrived on crutches with my husband.
I stayed in the lodge the entire weekend and spent most of my time in the living common area with my leg propped up (torn ligaments in my ankle). The staff was terrific! They pampered me and brought me blankets, pillows, tea, water and spent time talking to me. The food was good too! They really made me feel comfortable and tried to lessen the trauma of my accident. I did not want to go home! Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on our property! We are so glad you chose to visit us with your ski club, although it is a shame you suffered an injury just before you got here. Unfortunately, injuries do occur at every ski area, but when it happens here we always try to make our guests as comfortable as possible. We have all the medical centers on our call list and will do everything we can to help an injured guest. The big screen TV, reading area, and fireplace can help take the edge of an injured ankle or knee, not to mention our full service tavern with special coffee and hot chocolate drinks for the adults! Just the fact you came to Vermont anyway, even though you had been hurt before you left, shows your dedication to the ski lifestyle we enjoy so much at Bromley. Please visit us again soon, the ski season of 2013 was a huge success and we look forward to seeing you in 2014.
Sincerely,
Jim Doria, Bromley Sun Lodge

We stayed at the Bromley Sun Lodge during Thanksgiving weekend so we could get away from the crowds on Black Friday. The cost? Even though it wasn't ski season yet, it cost us more than $200 a night. The heater was extremely weak, so we had to ask for a space heater. The style of the room was characteristic of a motel, not a $200 a night lodge. There was a refrigerator and freezer available, so at least we could bring and enjoy Ben & Jerry's ice cream. The TV got very few channels. If you need something from the front desk, you'll have to go down yourself: the person there will be too busy talking with co-workers to answer the phone. Complimentary Wi-Fi won't work for older computers due to the higher level of the security key. Smokers, very likely some of the hotel workers, are always hanging around the main entrance. When the day housekeeper came in, the room wasn't cleaned: the only thing the housekeeper did was turn the lights off. The complimentary breakfast is of average fare, but their waffles are definitely above average. Unless you really love waffles, it definitely isn't worth staying at this lodge, especially if you're not here to ski.

Thank you for staying with us over Thanksgiving, we are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. Recently we upgraded our free wi-fi system to make it easier for guests to connect. Almost everyone who stays here raves about our staff, we are sorry to hear about your experience but assure you this is not typical. Our employee smoking area is not in the front of the building, but being a non-smoking hotel forces our guests who do smoke to do so outside. We are glad you enjoyed the breakfast buffet and would like to earn your business back. Please email me at your convenience (jimdoria@bromleysunlodge.com) if there is anything I can do for you.

We stayed at the Bromley Sun Lodge over Thanksgiving 2011. This is not the Four Seasons, but of course it doesn't have a Four Seasons price, either. What it does have going for it is that it is clean, the beds and plumbing are fine, the breakfast is nice and the staff is great. There is a heated indoor pool which the boys loved playing in (and a staff member came by to make sure we were happy with how warm it was), a nice fireplace with sofas around it that my wife and I relaxed in. Our room did have an alarm clock etc., so perhaps the other reviews are a bit out of date. The staff was wonderful, accommodated special requests (extra blanket, a drink in the lobby etc.) quickly and cheerfully. We travel to Peru every year (my brother and his family live there), so we have stayed in most of the places around. Some of them are really nice and charming, but they are all pricey, and mostly not nearly as kid-friendly as the Bromley Sun Lodge. We will be back.

Room Tip: We asked for a king sized bed, and it was a good bed.

Thank you for staying with us over Thanksgiving and taking the time to review us here on Trip Advisor. We are so glad your boys were able to swim while you relaxed in front of the fireplace with a drink from the tavern. Yes, our rooms have alarm clocks, they do tend to disappear from time to time, but they are easily replaceable. Our property is certainly close to your family's house in Peru, and appreciate the fact that you choose to stay with us when you visit. Thanks for the positive feedback; we look forward to your next visit.

Can't beat the location and the service. I felt right at home with the fireplace and bigscreen TV... kids could have fun and I didn't feel like I had to watch them every second..Family board games available, swimming and beds where very comfortable...It is decorated like a Lodge because it is a lodge... no need to update it is a perfect Mountain Resort..Rooms were very clean... loved it......

Room Tip: Ask for a back room if you are sensitive to noise.....

We are glad you chose to stay with us and felt at home while you were here. That is perhaps the greatest compliment because we really do try to make our guests feel like this is their home away from home, in a family environment. Families with kids are always welcome at the Sun Lodge, and Bromley is a great resort to introduce them to skiing and snowboarding. Thanks for your great review and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

Recently stayed at the resort.Even though it was off season, the service was great, and the location was fantastic.
This isn't a new resort and shows its age in some areas, but overall its well worth the money and should cover any needs you could ask for.
The staff is incredible.

Thank you so much for staying with us in October, during the fall foliage season. The hotel can be very relaxing during this time of year since the ski season hasn't started yet and the summer adventure park is closed. Its nice of you to acknowledge our staff for their efforts, they work very hard for our guests, and try to treat everyone who stays with us like family. We hope we can accommodate you again in the future during your travels to Vermont.

This hotel is in need of some much overdue TLC. Updates in astetics are really badly needed, as well as in conveinces, such as alarm clocks and air conditioning. We stayed in October and it was about 40 degrees outside. We had no a/c and our room was about 80 degrees. We could not sleep with the door open as it was a swinging door with no screen. The hotel was overall not very clean, although not as bad as it could have been, I guess. The bathrooms need an update, including new grout and shower heads. The Sun Lodge can boast a very friendly and hospitable staff, as well as a very adequate self-service breakfast included in your rate. Although we did not use the pool, it was very nice, and appeared clean and heated.
The location of the hotel would be great for skiing as it is practically on the mountain. For shopping and dining its about 5 mins from the village center. The rate was a big high I would say for the condition of the facility. We paid $149 on a Saturday during foliage season, and I think that closer to $100 would be more fair. But, all in all, it provided the one nights lodging we needed and had a nice staff. Additionally, the common area was very nice, in the main lobby with a large television and a toasty fireplace.

Room Tip: If you are there to ski, I would suggest a "ski - in, ski- out" room. Very convenient to...

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on our hotel. Since you visited us last we have done a complete renovation of the lobby area and are updating the guest rooms as we speak. Most, but not all, of our rooms have air conditioning, although I must say I am a bit confused as to why you would need air conditioning when it is 40 degrees out. All of our rooms also have alarm clocks, I'm not sure what happened to yours but we are glad to replace them if they turn up missing. Since your visit the bathrooms in the guest rooms have been updated, we have improved the free wi-fi network, and repainted and installed new carpet in the common areas. We are a family friendly resort and also accommodate large school groups, so sometimes there are items we need to fix or replace but that is part of the joy of owning a hotel. We appreciate your business and hope we can host you again in the future. Stop by and see our new look and tell us what you think.
