Amee Farm
Ranked #1 of 5 Pittsfield B&B and Inns
Reviewed 24 February 2013

We had a wonderful stay at the Amee Farm during the Presidents Day holiday weekend.
The innkeepers were really attentive and gave us some great advice for local dining options. The rooms are a beautiful mix of modern and cozy (think Boutique hotel meets farmhouse) and the shower was a dream come true. We also enjoyed the healthy breakfast buffet and the cozy common room area. For those who are looking for accommodation near the Killington ski resort: It's just a short ride (about 20 min) from the slopes, and the Amee Farm is so much more charming than any of the 70's style lodges we saw on Killington Road. Highly recommend!

Check in was a breeze, they left the key in the door. We expected a breakfast (since it is listed as bed & breakfast). They give you a voucher for the general store down the road. We had to skip breakfast the first day as we were in a hurry to get to Killington, which is 20 minutes down the road.
The bed was great, we requested a king and got it. I had never tried memory foam. Both my husband & I enjoyed it. The common areas in the house are quite cold and they do not allow guest to adjust heat or operate pellet stove, so I sat around in my coat until they turned the stove on.
The showers were awesome, brand new and well done.
For $200/night, I expect a little bit more, heat and breakfast to start.

Room Tip: 1st floor king with private bath. Room #1

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at the Amee Farm Lodge. We were pleased to hear that you were so happy with your king bed and the stone-lined shower.

We were sorry to hear that you found some of the common areas rather cold. In fact that was one reason why we purchased the pellet stove for our living room; so that the first guest down in the morning could simply press the "ON" button to fire up the stove. We'll have to make it more clear to future guests that they are welcome to turn it on themselves.

It is unfortunate that you missed out on your breakfast at the General Store in town (0.1 miles away). When we only have a few guests in the Lodge we issue them with a voucher that entitles them to a full breakfast at the General Store... this is most definitely an "upgrade," and most folks consider it a treat.

We hope you will stay with us again, and we will make sure that the pellet stove is piping hot prior to your arrival, and that you have time to enjoy a delicious breakfast before skiing.

All the best,
Simon Burrows & Jessica Lacroix

We stayed at Amee Farm for just two nights but we had the best time. Certainly a great spot to relax with great views, excellent service, and authentic restaurants. The innkeepers Simon & Jessica are soo helpful and had plenty of suggestions for places to go and things to do. We spent the one of the days driving about 20 minutes to Woodstock and then to Quechee. Both were really quaint towns. Perfect for getting a hot drink and just walking around with great shops and restaurants/bars. Killington was also nearby for skiing which given more time we would of definitely done. The farm itself is set on the mountain surrounded by trails, perfect for a nice walk. The rooms have a cozy, cabin feel. Our last night we got pizza and beer and sat by the fire in the living room. It couldn't get any more relaxing. The mattresses are tempur-pedic which was a really nice surprise. The General Store down the street has a fantastic breakfast. All in all I would recommend Amee Farm to anyone. My boyfriend and I kept saying that this place could not be real life. A hidden gem and a must stay!!!

Our son and his fiance wanted a "country" wedding in Vermont because the state is very special to them and after visiting Amee Farm decided this was the place. As parents of the groom we wanted a great venue for a rehearsal dinner and location that would start their lives off in great style. While in all honesty some of the logisitcal planning was a bit more complex that it should have been, once we were on at the site things could not have gone better. Every employee, from the guys bringing in tables and chairs, to the inn keepers and planners worked tirelessly to produce a wonderful rehearsal dinner, impeccable living accomodations, superior service, attention to detail and a magical wedding and beautiful reception. No detail was overlooked. When the area's first cold snap put a damper on our plans to have an outside evening dinner, staff never missed a beat and created a country barbeque with an informal feel but with classy touches. Little details like lighted luminaries to light the way back to the farm after dinner and gorgeous flowers and votive candles on the tables made our dinner a great time. The rooms are comfortable, very nicely appointed (you'll love the bathrooms/showers!) and each unique. The location is close to skiing, golf, shopping and scenic locations. This place is a gem!!!

Wow, this is what we we didn't even know we were looking for- needle in a haystack of crappy doiley-filled B&B's. Perfect rustic, comfy and warm type of feel, surrounded by views of colorful hills, a pond, animals roaming, the live farm across the street and greenery. farmhouse updated in some areas, handmade additions over the years add to the charm and i found it just as fantastic inside as it was to stare out. We loved it and Simon and Jessica were amazingly helpful and friendly, to make it more than your usual stay over.
Food and bev's were fantastic and serving areas nicely kept up; clean, organized, perfect. They keep a tight ship and despite a little thin walls, the rooms were very tastefully done and bathrooms rocked. seriously a great place to grab coffee or wine and just sit in the great living area by the fire and stare out. great vibe, they created something special there and we'll have to return for more of that Vermont feel.

Room Tip: we chose the corner room 2nd floor, to have both windows facing the hills, happy that we did.

We stayed at the Amee Farm while attending a wedding in October 2012. All the people at the Farm were wedding guests. It was perfect....like a house party.
The rooms were comfortable, the staff welcoming and solicitous. We sat on the porch and in the livingroom in the morning and evenings. The breakfast and afternoon 'tea' was delicious. The animals, ducks and scottish cattle, added to the ambience. We loved hearing the quacking ducks under our window.
The Amee Farm is unique and charming. We loved it!

Room Tip: The corner room on the first floor is nice...two windows with light from two sides.

My friend and I stayed for one night in the Blossom room with a shared bath but there were only a handful of people staying so we didn’t end up having to share the bathroom with anyone else. There was a little creek out back that we could hear during the night, although starting in the morning the traffic noise was much heavier. The décor was unique, tasteful and very detailed - there wasn’t a part of the room we didn’t like. We felt at welcomed the moment we walked in by the innkeepers. They left out beverages as well as cookies and fruit all day which was much appreciated after our long drive. The rain showers were clean and very impressive, albeit somewhat difficult during actual use because there was no way to keep your head out of the water unless you are bent over. Everything was extremely clean, from the room itself to the towels and sheets. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The view from the porch was to die for, although the traffic made it a somewhat noisy place to sit so we opted to eat breakfast indoors.
A few tips:
Give yourself time for a hike. They have hikes starting right across the street with a little map for suggested routes ranging from a nice leisurely walk to a several hour hike.
Use the directions they email when you make your reservation. Using my GPS on my iPhone we ended up about 6 miles away (took us the wrong way on hwy 100) and had to call in for directions. It sounded like that was not uncommon. Limited cell service in that area.
For those with friends like mine: there are lots of steps required to get to the main floor as well as to the rooms so pack light or be prepared.
