“Wonderful Stay”
Reviewed 5 September 2013

My wife and I have been travelling to VT looking for a vacation Home. We have stayed twice with Julie and Michael and we are headed back again. Wonderful hosts, beautiful Inn and incredible breakfast. On our first stay we did a package which included tickets to The Weston Playhouse. Saw a great production of 42nd Street. It's a great spot and we both highly reccomend it.

Going to Vermont with our friends to cycle is something that my husband and I look forward to several times a year if we can make it – and staying at the Golden Stage is a big part of that experience. Julie and Mike always make us feel like they are happy to see us and we are genuinely happy to see them. Because they just seem to love what they are doing and that attitude rubs off. The feeling I always get when staying at the Golden Stage, is that they have invited you into their life and this wonderful new adventure they have taken on. During this last visit, they made an extra effort to prepare breakfast items that we had never had at our previous visits. They really work hard to make each visit special and always ask for feedback. We have seen many of the changes they have made since becoming owners a few years ago, and everything has given the property and the running of the Inn new life. My husband even put on a bee suit the year before, but unfortunately did not get around to doing it this time after a hard cycling day the day before we headed back to the city. The Inn is situated in a perfect location for road biking – which is our primary activity when we come up with our friends (who have been coming to the Inn for much longer than we have!). There are always cookies in the cookie jar – I was lucky enough to get one hot out of the oven – and Mike’s chocolate cake on Sat night is awesome and I am not a cake eater in general. We also enjoy the local restaurants – particularly Sam’s Steakhouse. In addition, you must try Brads “Crazy Side” outdoor food cart in Bridgewater Corners. The coconut curry coleslaw is amazing and the fish n’ chips leave NO grease on the paper. I am sorry I only made it up to Vermont one time this year – but I can’t wait to see what changes have taken place at The Golden Stage the next time around!

My husband and I spent two nights here and did the foodie package. The inn is very clean and easy to get to with plenty of activities to do nearby. The owners went above and beyond to make sure we were happy during our stay. The package was well worth it and we truly enjoyed sampling the local flavors. We stayed in Otis's Room, which was very spacious. Our only complaint was that the bathroom shower was small. Overall, our stay was excellent and we are already planning our next visit!

Julie-Lynn and Mike are hosts the way hosts should be: gracious, welcoming, warm, considerate (and we had some need for consideration since one of our family of 6 became ill during our stay.) They even offered a genuine gift to my husband and me --a discount in honor of our 50th wedding anniversary and an upgraded room. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfasts are flavorful and nourishing and make good use of the eggs from their own chickens. (The sheep that live in a pen between the chicken coop and the swimming pool add their beauty to the landscape , as well.) One of us forgot some items on departure and Julie-Lynn contacted us and sent them on to her, which was another very thoughtful gesture and greatly appreciated. Oh--before I sign off--I must mention that the bottomless cooking jar andMike's fantastic chocolate cake are gustatory bonuses that we all enjoyed. We were attending our granddaughtyer's concerts at Kinhaven Music School in Weston and Golden Stage Inn was the ideal place for us to stay. The only downside is the rather noisy road that is close bu although not right next ot the inn.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not face the road but, rather, the lovely bubbly koi pond. The suites are e...

We have stayed at the golden stage twice now and I'm sure there will be a third. The food, service and friendliness are outstanding. We especially enjoyed the soup and yum, the cookies. It is our favorite place to stay between ski weeks.

Had a lovely stay here during our three week trip to New England in June.Mike and Julie are naturally friendly people and this was reflected during our stay. They are around when you need them which is important for guests. We had some great chats with Julie over delicous freshly cooked breakfasts. The inn is very cozy, comfortable and welcoming,we stayed in Otis's room which is tastefully furnished with with a large comfortable bed,the bathroom may be slightly small but immaculate. You get a feel of how it used to be back when it was built, thinking of the travellers passing through over the years.Julie gave us a trip to the hive which was very special,if you have never seen a colony of bee's before, which I hadn't this is a must see.Apparently the male bee's(drones) do not do much at all, kind of laze about, this is not common with humans :).All in all a lovely stay and if you are travelling from the UK or indeed from anywhere, make this a stop on your trip to the Okemo area.Thanks.
