Golden Stage Inn Bed and Breakfast
Reviewed 20 October 2013

My friend and I were on a Fall New England Trip and were lucky enough to have booked the Golden Stage Inn. We were welcomed by Julie and Nelly and immediately felt at home. The Inn is really warm and comfortable. All of the rooms are very clean and really nicely appointed. We stayed in one of the suites and appreciated the little hallway that connected the rooms and the bathroom. Sitting by the fire drinking tea and home made cookies was wonderful after a day of touring. The breakfast was simple and really delicious. We loved that the eggs were fresh from Julie's hens and the honey was fresh from her hives. We also greatly appreciated the email they sent us a few days prior with recommendations of where to stop on the way. We enjoyed every minute of our short stay and recommend it. Thanks Julie and Mike!

We just completed a three-night stay at the Golden Stage Inn in Proctorsville VT and couldn't be happier with our stay. Hosts Julie and Mike make guests feel right at home with welcoming tea and coffee, evening dessert, tasty and tasteful breakfasts, and genuine interest and delight. The George Room in the older part of the house is as creaky and crooked as one would expect an 18th century structure to be; to us, it was all part of the charm. The bed and bedding couldn't be more comfortable. Mike's food was delicious and Julie's restaurant recommendations are great. Julie also raises bees and is very knowledgeable about honey-making. The Inn's honey is delicious! We're happy to consider the Golden Stage a "new home away from home" and we're looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: I didn't see any of the other rooms besides the George Room, which was in the older part of the...

We recently came across the golden stage inn for a post peak fall foliage trip. Mike and Julie were so welcoming from the moment we stepped in. They really made it such a special stay and we truly felt comfortable. They always had great recommendations and thought of everything before we could. The foodie package was just what we needed. They packed us an awesome picnic which we hiked up to the fire watch tower and devoured. Having a fresh made breakfast with local ingredients added such a lovely touch. We couldn't have asked for a better first time stay at a bed and breakfast!

We recently stayed in the "Cornelia Room" which was wonderful.
Our hosts, Julie and Mike were extremely welcoming when we arrived after a long day's travel. The room was fantastic with an extremely comfortable bed. Our morning breakfast was delicious and ample allowing us to travel all day with out lunch.
A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE AND WE WILL DEFINATELY TRY TO STAY NEXT TIME WE ARE IN THE AREA.

Room Tip: The Cornelia Room is a beautifully furnished antique room that I would ask for again

We don't reply publicly to most of our reviews, but every once in a while we feel the need to shout out a very public "Thank You!" to you and to all our reviewers. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope that you come back to us soon. (We're on schedule for renovating Cornelia's Room and Otis's Room in Spring 2015. We promise to maintain the antique motif in this upgrade.)

My wife and I have been travelling to VT looking for a vacation Home. We have stayed twice with Julie and Michael and we are headed back again. Wonderful hosts, beautiful Inn and incredible breakfast. On our first stay we did a package which included tickets to The Weston Playhouse. Saw a great production of 42nd Street. It's a great spot and we both highly reccomend it.

Going to Vermont with our friends to cycle is something that my husband and I look forward to several times a year if we can make it – and staying at the Golden Stage is a big part of that experience. Julie and Mike always make us feel like they are happy to see us and we are genuinely happy to see them. Because they just seem to love what they are doing and that attitude rubs off. The feeling I always get when staying at the Golden Stage, is that they have invited you into their life and this wonderful new adventure they have taken on. During this last visit, they made an extra effort to prepare breakfast items that we had never had at our previous visits. They really work hard to make each visit special and always ask for feedback. We have seen many of the changes they have made since becoming owners a few years ago, and everything has given the property and the running of the Inn new life. My husband even put on a bee suit the year before, but unfortunately did not get around to doing it this time after a hard cycling day the day before we headed back to the city. The Inn is situated in a perfect location for road biking – which is our primary activity when we come up with our friends (who have been coming to the Inn for much longer than we have!). There are always cookies in the cookie jar – I was lucky enough to get one hot out of the oven – and Mike’s chocolate cake on Sat night is awesome and I am not a cake eater in general. We also enjoy the local restaurants – particularly Sam’s Steakhouse. In addition, you must try Brads “Crazy Side” outdoor food cart in Bridgewater Corners. The coconut curry coleslaw is amazing and the fish n’ chips leave NO grease on the paper. I am sorry I only made it up to Vermont one time this year – but I can’t wait to see what changes have taken place at The Golden Stage the next time around!
