This large yet intimate inn seems a little remote but sits on lovely grounds & has warm, hospitale hosts who wait up for you with wine or chocolate cake! It can accommodate singles, couples, or families and is large enough for large parties & lovely grounds complete with pool, expansive lawns, chickens, goats & sheep (not heard during our stay). Gourmet breakfast with homemade pastries & jams. Each room decorated with warm decor & have own baths, some with twin beds, others queens, etc. What really impressed me was the fully functional, wheelchair accessible room with a roll-in shower, detachable shower head. Having traveled often with my husband it was one of the better setups, rare for a historic bldg., & better than many modern hotels. Quiet location & easy drive to Woodstock & scenic areas.

Room Tip: Request a downstairs room if you don't want to climb stairs.

We're so grateful to every one of our guests that takes the time to post a review after staying with us. Thank you! And an extra thank you for highlighting the wheelchair accessible room. While we have two rooms on the first floor, just one of them is fully wheelchair accessible. (We do ask guests to note this need upon reservation so that we can move the furniture around a little.)
Thanks again ... for staying with us and for taking the time to offer these details to others.

My husband, 4 year old daughter and I stayed at this wonderful B&B on a foliage weekend in late September. Mike and Julie were the most fantastic hosts you could imagine- very helpful and sweet and went above and beyond to make sure we have a great stay and that my daughter had a fabulous time. She was particularly taken by the dog Nelly, and was happy to have many opportunities to feed her treats. She also enjoyed feeding the leftovers from breakfast to the chickens outside!

Our suite was very comfortable and we had a separate bedroom from my daughter but were close enough not to worry about her. We had all the amenities we needed and everything was clean and nice.

The area was charming and we really enjoyed a family trail ride at a local horse farm (Plan B Stables).

We also enjoyed a trip to the nearby town of Woodstock which was a pleasant ride.

I would highly recommend a stay at this B&B, the experience was very enjoyable and we plan to go again.

Room Tip: The family suites are lovely!

My friend and I were on a Fall New England Trip and were lucky enough to have booked the Golden Stage Inn. We were welcomed by Julie and Nelly and immediately felt at home. The Inn is really warm and comfortable. All of the rooms are very clean and really nicely appointed. We stayed in one of the suites and appreciated the little hallway that connected the rooms and the bathroom. Sitting by the fire drinking tea and home made cookies was wonderful after a day of touring. The breakfast was simple and really delicious. We loved that the eggs were fresh from Julie's hens and the honey was fresh from her hives. We also greatly appreciated the email they sent us a few days prior with recommendations of where to stop on the way. We enjoyed every minute of our short stay and recommend it. Thanks Julie and Mike!

We just completed a three-night stay at the Golden Stage Inn in Proctorsville VT and couldn't be happier with our stay. Hosts Julie and Mike make guests feel right at home with welcoming tea and coffee, evening dessert, tasty and tasteful breakfasts, and genuine interest and delight. The George Room in the older part of the house is as creaky and crooked as one would expect an 18th century structure to be; to us, it was all part of the charm. The bed and bedding couldn't be more comfortable. Mike's food was delicious and Julie's restaurant recommendations are great. Julie also raises bees and is very knowledgeable about honey-making. The Inn's honey is delicious! We're happy to consider the Golden Stage a "new home away from home" and we're looking forward to returning soon.

Room Tip: I didn't see any of the other rooms besides the George Room, which was in the older part of the Inn (late 1870s). The George Room was charming, with creaky floor boards and an extremely comfortable, cozy bed and en suite bathroom.

We recently came across the golden stage inn for a post peak fall foliage trip. Mike and Julie were so welcoming from the moment we stepped in. They really made it such a special stay and we truly felt comfortable. They always had great recommendations and thought of everything before we could. The foodie package was just what we needed. They packed us an awesome picnic which we hiked up to the fire watch tower and devoured. Having a fresh made breakfast with local ingredients added such a lovely touch. We couldn't have asked for a better first time stay at a bed and breakfast!
