This area of Vermont is very beautiful, which is why we chose it for Mother's Day weekend. Unfortunately the Parker House Inn was not so beautiful. Our room, which had been painted two days before was very barren and not very attractive. The windows had been painted shut and when the dining room closed, about 10 PM (which, by the way, is so loud that you can barely talk in your room) the paint smell become overwhelming. We were unable to stay in the room because of the smell. The owners refused to refund us for this! Please don't waste your time or money.

This guest was fully refunded. This is particularly frustrating beacuse we recieved a v. understanding email saying they wanted to come back another time. The couple checked in at 2:00 (1 hour earlier than our posted check-in time) we never heard any complaint until 10 pm when they wanted to check out beacuse of the paint fumes -we had painted the bathroom 2 days earlier. She is right some of the windows don't open because they are antique, but may others do. This is the largest room in our National Historic Register 1857 Inn. If they had told us there was a problem earlier we would have happily changed their room - but at 10 pm There was nothing we can do because we were full. As for the decor we have 200 count bed linens, matelesse covers, oriental rugs and beautiful antique furniture - we are sorry that it is not her taste!
