We have dined here a few times now and like it more and more each time. We made a 7:30 pm reservation on a Saturday night, but showed up at 7:00 pm and Eugenie was more than happy to accommodate us on a busy night. Love that.
For some reason, both my husband and I were in the mood for a burger, and boy oh boy does the SSB do a burger right. I had mine medium rare and added Vermont cheddar. The other burger was ordered rare with gorgonzola. Both burgers were cooked perfectly and the roasted potatoes that come along with the burgers are also a delightful treat and so different than the ordinary order of french fries.
I started with the mushroom strudel and it was light and delightful. When looking for a special treat in Rochester for dinner with a charming hostess and great chef (Eugenie's husband Brent slaving away in the kitchen), you can't do better than the SSB. Oh, and ask for Karen as a waitress. She is incredibly attentive and knows the menu very well and can steer you in the right direction if you're uncertain what to order.
And finally, the tiramisu. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Eugenie doesn't just stand around and greet and seat guests -- she's the baker and never have i had such a perfect rendition of this dessert. Go. To. This. Restaurant. 'Nuff said!
