We stayed at this Economy Inn last year and returned again this year. It seems to have been upgraded since we stayed here last. We asked for the same room but it was not available so we took one close to it. We had a comfy stay and all was quiet once again. Very nice front desk staff and a hearty breakfast.

We ended up staying at this Economy Inn downtown on our 2nd night of the Vermont Fair. We had a smoking room right in the main circle of the hotel. The room was strangely clean smelling for a smoking room. It was nice inside with a microwave and a refrigerator (which we loaded with beer after the Fair). Did some walking downtown and generally had a decent time. Nice to see the City of Rutland.

We saw this hotel and the sign out front back in August that said it going to be auctioned.

This time through we decided to stay a night. We asked at the front desk and it was indeed under new management. We were lucky to get one of the rooms that had recently been worked on.

Generally, we had a nice stay. Our room was a few doors from the office and was in nice shape. Everything was clean and proper.

We showed up at 11PM after driving for 4 hours to find that they sold our room. All rooms in other hotels were sold out in Rutland that night for various reasons and apparently the could get top dollar for our room. The claimed that my credit card was declined, but I know for a fact that I gave them the correct info. I will NEVER stay at an Econo Lodge again! The woman on the phone, seeing the office was locked, was SO rude. NEVER AGAIN!

I guess there had to be some not so great motels to stay at in the area and we found one. We did one night out this past weekend and now we know where not to stay in the future.

Economy Inn is a scary place to stay and even worse it's not at all clean. We had a room in the middle of the motel. There was not enough room to park. The small lot was overflowing. The rooms were smelly and old. The price was much too high for such a run down place. We took a walk around to the side of the Motel and it looked like a war zone. People talking out in the lot told us that the side rooms were used for homeless and state aid people. Saw the Police in the lot several times that night.

Economy Inn may have been nice at one time but no more. Absolutely will not stay there again.

This place is, as of what date I'm not sure, "under new management", but I can't imagine it was a lot better before. The guy who took our reservation was pleasant enough, as was the guy who checked us in (possibly the same guy), but there is a stale, moldy stench throughout the motel, and especially in the room we stayed in. For the record, there is no longer a "continental breakfast", despite what it says on Expedia, although I doubt I'd have eaten it if there were. Our room had extensive bubbling to the walls from water damage, there were old, broken, non-functioning, rusty radiators along the walls, the heat was provided by a window-type ac/heat unit that seemed to make the smell worse. It really seemed like we were risking our health staying there, but we arrived at nearly 11:00 and had little choice but to stay. This is NOT a bargain, even at $50/night. Spend an extra 15 bucks and stay at the Mendon Orchards Motel just around the corner on Route 4 if you're on a tight budget. It is VASTLY more pleasant!

This is a rustic little inn on the Strip in Rutland. We stumbled across this place after our original hotel was not open late night for check -in. The clerk at the front desk was extremely friendly & helpful. We checked into a smallish but clean & comfortable room. The continental breakfast was also a money saver, good choices. The room was made up speedily & neatly for our stay on the second night. Not many amenities, but it it is in a centrally located spot. the parking is tight, I wouldn't recommend more than one car in your travelling party. For the money, this place is a value accompanied with friendly small town service.
