Owner description: Built by renowned artist and founder of Dog Mountain, Stephen Huneck, this unique chapel, welcoming both parishioners and their dogs, is styled in the manner of a 19th-century village church in Vermont.

I was already in St. Johnsbury and thought I'd check out The Dog Chapel. It is a serene little chapel with chairs where many, many people have left notes remembering their beloved dogs who have passed away before their owners.

According to the sign in the chapel it is permissible to scatter your dog's cremains in a part of Dog Mountain. Would be a beautiful place to do this.

I really liked the art in the art gallery as well.

Thank Anne M

We were stayin in Nirth Conway heading over To Montpelier vt and decided to make the detour to the dog chapel. I am so glad we did.

It is a really fun and well thought out gallery and the chapel really brings home to you what a truly wonderful companion your dog is.

It felt like the gift shop and art was a bit over priced. We would have spent more if the art work was less money. But we were glad to make a purchase to support this truly awesome place.

If you are a dog lover, you must visit the Dog Chapel & Gallery on Dog Mountain. First, the view from Dog Mt. is spectacular during fall. Secondly, it is dog heaven! Dogs are welcome in the chapel, gallery, grounds & agility course. Third, the chapel with its stained glass windows, doggie pews, & walls covered with touching notes from humans to their pets is heartwarming. Finally, the gallery with it's high quality art and trinkets is a pleasure to view. Go! Take your dogs & your kids. You will all love it on Dog Mountain!

I really had mixed feelings going up here, but it is mega-cool if you have any affection for dogs. This place has a very good "gift shop" (really a beautiful artist gallery) of nice mostly affordable artist works of (what else) DOGS. The chapel is nice. That is putting it lightly. If you have a dog (the world's most loving, and forgiving) creature) that has died, you NEED to come here to remember the love both of you felt for each other. Bring a small picture of your beautiful dog ( big votos are not allowed) and you can leave it to be posted by the staff later on. There are walking paths and a exercise place too. Go, you will be glad you did (even if you never did have a dog).

This is a must see for animal lover but especially dog lovers. The chapel is a special place that will bring tears to your eyes. Bring an picture of an old pet who has passed onto heaven and some tape. Add them to the wall.

There is a gallery here where you can pick up some unique gifts for the holidays. Coming in the summer, there are concerts on Sundays and a place for your dog to run free. The stop does not take up a lot of time but it is definitely worth it!!!
