We found this hidden gem amidst a general store and mercantile~ boasting big charm while in a small space. They have breakfast and lunch items with just a few tables and counter with stools that overlooks Main St. Order at the main counter and they bring to your table. We enjoyed coffee and waffles while merely drooling over their pastries in the glass case. A great find with reasonable prices.

Found this place while seeking shelter from the rain on halloween. At first I thought it was just your typical cafe and did not have high expectations. Then I tasted the food. We both got soup and it was delicious. Exactly what we needed on that cold wet day. Ginger carrot soup.... Mmmmmmmm. Out of all the places we went to while in Stowe this is the only one I'll be coming back to.

This restaurant was our third choice as the other two were not open for lunch. The response to our telling the lady behind the counter that my son had a nut allergy was an ambivalent "ok". No more info, assurances or passing on to the kitchen (she didn't write anything down). It wasn't a "Don't worry about it- we have no nuts". It was more like a "So what, I don't really care." Clam chowder was pretty good (7 out of 10 stars). Whole experience put a sour taste in my stomach.

Good food, but not a lot of seating. The Vermont grilled cheese was scrumptious and the tomato soup was warm and comforting.

The Cafe on main Stowe is tucked away diagonally opposite the visitor information office occupying a corner in a mercantile , book, clothes store.
Great character server on the till when we were there. We had a chicken salad , apple celery , raisins  maple syrup on sour dough.  Delicious. There were a variety of homemade foods interesting muffins, cakes etc Omelettes, wraps, breakfast sandwiches and hot apple cider. Our blueberry malt muffin and walnut / maple muffin were really delicious.
