“Excellent meal”
Reviewed 27 August 2014

We enjoyed sharing the fresh pineapple salad as our appetizer. It was very good. I had the pork shank with carrots and mashed sweet potatoes. The pork was very tender & flavorful. My husband had the penne pasta & said it was very good.

“Great Meal, Terrific Time”
Reviewed 25 August 2014

The Bistro at Ten Acres was the best restaurant during our recent trip through Vermont and New Hampshire. The food is great, the ambience casual yet romantic, and the staff friendly and helpful. Everything from the appetizer, through the entree, to the dessert was special. And given the quality, the prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

“Terrific meal”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

We had a wonderful experience at the bistro recently. The restaurant is warm and inviting, and the service terrific. The menu is interesting and creative. For starters we tried the pineapple salad, broiled oysters and chilaquiles. Everything was delicious but the chilaquiles were spectacular. For an entree, I had the lobster in bourbon sauce with polenta which was an innovative and very tasty way of preparing lobster. Others ordered the succulent and flavorful pork shank, and the delicious smoked pastramied salmon which came with home made crackers. Dessert was a tangy and luscious key lime pie and a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce that was divine. You won't be disappointed.

“A lovely dining experience”
Reviewed 24 August 2014

Chose it based on Trip Advisor - glad I could reserve through Open Table - surprised to not see it advertised in any of the Stowe Area guides etc. I realize this is probably because it is a smaller family run establishment. Service was good, food was excellent - very interesting tastes - Chef Gary does a great job! The key lime and Pecan pies were the cherry on the cake!

“Service weak. Food pretty good. ”
Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

We were staying at Trapp Family Lodge and decided to try 10 Acres. We sat down at 6 pm. Blue Point oysters at $14 for six were good. The mushroom spinach soup was tasty--but mushroom soup hard to mess up. The mexican chicken dish look like soup--was not soup--very tasty. The Vietnamese shrimp was good but could not be eaten rolled up. The tofu curry was tasty. The smoked salmon was very good if you like strong smoke taste. Never had salmon like that. The waiter (Michael) could not explain the sides and never came back to tell us. We ended up leaving the table with finished meals sitting in front of us, empty glasses, never asked about dessert. He walked past us 3 times and never picked up our plates. The party of 5 next to us had same experience. The atmosphere was loud and the decor was confused--kinda western meets VT--odd. The menu is all over the place as well. As we were leaving a couple came in the door drenched, clearly stressed, looking for assistance in finding their room at the Inn. The barman was flip with them and tossed them to the hostess who spoke pleasantly but sent them back out into the rain to find their room. As we drove away we saw them trudging up the hill in the rain carrying 4 bags and no umbrella, no bellman, nothing!! Oh and the parking lot was a mud pit that trashed our shoes and car mats. Ten Acres does not seem to understand the little really matter and each one compounds. I wouldnt bother going back.

Linda and I are very pleased you enjoyed you food here. It seems an extraordinary majority of our dinner guests do as well. Additionally we're genuinely sorry you did not receive the level of service both you and we expect. Friendly, professional excellence is something we and you should expect when dining at The Bistro at Ten Acres. We'll use this is as teachable moment for our staff.

No, you are correct, we don't employ a Bell Hop. We only have 8 rooms in our hotel. We do however have attentive, responsive owners on site. It's unforunate you did not overhear the entire conversation Linda had with our lodging guests when she offered to personally drive them up to their rooms. We always endeavor to treat guests at Ten Acres, whether they are in our lodging or our restaurant, as if they are guest in our own home.
