Good drinks, food, and atmosphere! Great selection of microbrews and mixed drinks- hands down best zombie recipe with fresh ingredients no pre made "mix" here. While the food menu is not huge compared to the drink menu it does touch on all the best of pub food. We dined on a mile high roast beef sandwich, deconstructed caesar salad, wings, and flatbread ~ all delicious with fresh ingredients.

The Vermont ale House is a fun lade back space that's clean, has nice decor, a few tv's with the game and music that produced a good vibe.

The reason why the 4* and not 5 is because service was a bit slow.. it consisted of a staff of three out front who greeted-served-mixed drinks. While all three were great..( friendly, knowledgeable and constantly moving)… they could have used another person. We waited 30mins for our bill and to go box. Other than that its a win!

We went for beer and pub fare. The beer selection was great, but the service was terrible.

After our drink orders were taken, the bartender never checked in with us again-and we were sitting at the bar! We wanted to order food, but were never asked if we wanted anything, how our drinksdrinks were or if we needed anything. The bartenders were evidently too busy eating their own dinner behind the bar to pay attention to customers. It was somewhat busy when we visited, but there were 3 bartenders working. Some of the worst service I've experienced.

I went there to meet some friends and listen to some music. The ambiance is warm and inviting, the beer list is extensive with enough choices of either a cocktail or glass of wine to make do. The food menu is small and rather limiting in respects to my preference for healthy choices, supporting the local farmers, being vegetarian or vegan. I'll go back to hang out but will make sure to not go on an empty stomach.

Really couldn't have asked for more. Great pizza. Great burger. Great beer. Friendly service. Worth every walk up the hill, without a doubt.

Our party of nine decided to try out this place on Mountain Road, just north of Stowe one evening while visiting this scenic area of Vermont in mid October.

What we liked was being seated soon after arrival though the restaurant was full to the rafters. We got our drinks first in part of the lower level dining room and enjoyed talking, checking out the old books on the shelves lining the room, and sipping our very tasty drinks. The beers were very good, including the Heart of Lothian, a darkish Scottish-style brew, that I tried out. Also, several in our group had Martinis, which were huge and amazingly good.

Soon after, our server moved us to a larger, nearby table that was more suitable for our party of nine. She took our food orders and new drink orders efficiently. We also liked the two, large-screen TVs on opposing walls, so that all who wanted to catch up on sports could easily do so.

Most of us had ordered some type of chicken wings off the extensive food menu, as the Alehouse had a reputation for good wings. As it turned out, just about all of the different flavoured wings were a big disappointment. The meat was mealy and not very appetizing. The burger I ordered was small with a thin piece of meat covered in lots of lettuce and tomato slices. It too did not have a savoury taste nor did it please the palate, in the way most burgers do. Finally, one of group, who ordered the Tempura Battered Cauliflower took one taste and put her fork down, as she could not eat another bite.

as a result of our mid-October experience, we'd recommend The Alehouse to only those interested in great beers or other drinks.
