“The Stowe Experience”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

My wife and I knew we wanted to get to Stowe to ski at some point during our brief time on the East Coast. Stowe was in fact the only ski resort we knew of prior to moving out here. We finally got there in our last ski season.

Decided to stay at the Stowe Mountain Lodge to get the full experience (the drive from the town to the Lodge set the ski-town feel). We booked in October to ski mid-March and rolled the dice that the weather would be in our favor. By booking so early we found we saved almost half the price had we booked say the week prior, so that made us feel great.

When you pull up to this place it's pretty impressive, even in the dark. Valets grab your things and vehicle right away, so be ready for that; I knew it was coming and was still caught off guard! People at the front desk were very nice, although we did feel a little out of our league so to speak, like we were hanging with the rich folk, but we got over it quickly and started enjoying our weekend.

Room was amazing. King bed, with a fireplace, balcony, and one of the nicest bathrooms I have ever been in. It was very roomy, and also had chairs, a couch, coffee table, and a couple of foot rests which were great for drying out ski gear. Nice little view of the main part of the mountain as well, and slightly overlooked the pool area off to the side.

The Lodge has a very good sized outdoor pool that also has a lap portion, and 2 hot tubs. We only used the pool to travel closer to the hot tub; you enter the pool indoors before swimming through a plastic curtain to get outside. We went to the hot tub that was a little bit more of a "run of shame" from the pool; the other I believe you could hop right over the wall into. The hot tubs themselves could have been a bit warmer we felt. They also looked to have a very nice health club, and spa, although we did not use either.

Ski valet in the morning was very handy. Just call down before you start getting dressed, and once you get ready, and make it down, your ski's and poles are waiting for you. From there it's a short walk to a good number of runs, or the gondola that takes you across the street to the main mountain.

If we have the opportunity to go back, most likely with family, I think we will; especially if we can book far enough ahead and save. Very nice, relaxing, place to spend a ski weekend!

Room Tip: Not sure you can get a bad room, but the King bed room we had was phenominal

Spectacular hotel and incredible customer service. The rooms are great and the bathrooms are even better! The location has superb views throughout the property and everything is of great quality. It's a perfect place to spend some time exploring the northeast.

Room Tip: Front four is the way to go!

This is a really impressive looking hotel. The rooms have excellent facilities and are very large and luxurious.
We stayed here for 2 nights when we were on a tour of New England. We ate in the restaurant on one of the nights and were sorry that we didn't do the same on the second night too.
The only sore point was the breakfast- as we were on a coach tour we didn't get the same breakfast as ordinary guests did and we were put in the bar on the first morning and a conference room on the second. We felt a little patronised.
That said, we liked the hotel and would recommend it.
As it is a ski lodge it is not in the centre of Stowe, so you need transport if you want to eat anywhere else.

I was in this hotel with my wife for two nights in a weekend. Front desk and valet parking staff was friendly and helpfully. I got a nice mountain view room in third floor as requested. This hotel is new and nicely maintained. Room was clean and with comfortable double bed and a balcony. This hotel is located very close to mountain and cable cart to mountain peak. The hotel restaurant in the mountain peak is very nice. Our stay in the hotel was relaxing and I love to go back In the fall season to see fall colors of the Stowe mountain.

This hotel has a truly beautiful location just by Mt. Mansfield. The hotel offers three different kind of rooms: Classic, Studio and 1-2-3 bedroom suits. I would recommend living in the South Wing for access to a bathtub in the room, also closer to the pool and spa even though its a bit further away from the lobby. A really energetic and wonderful staff at the Front Desk and Bell/Valet.

The Snowboard school instructors over at the resort are also absolutely amazing.

Room Tip: Alpine view! 5th floor south wing.

This is the ideal place to stay in Stowe. Location and service are top quality. Restaurant's are good but could be better. This hotel is similar to the hotels you get in Rockies... great service and ease with the Lift right next to it. Ski Valet also very useful. Great Pool!

Although a bit pricy, especially during peak ski season, the accommodations are truly excellent. They even have pet friendly rooms and it's OK to have your well mannered dog in the Great Room of the Lodge. The Spa is world class and the pool is awesome. The only downside is the food is fair at best- at all the restaurants on site. While edible and suitable for families foodies would likely rate it a "5' at best on a scale if 1 -10. That said, the town of Stowe and surrounding area has a number of great restaurants worth checking out and only a short drive away.

Room Tip: Breakfast and lunch is OK- but go elsewhere for dinner.
