“Could not have asked for a better Inn Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2013

We spent two nights at the Green Mountain Inn. We stayed in a "luxury family suite". The suite had two rooms and a bathroom. One bedroom had two twins. The bathroom was luxurious and clean. The main room was spacious with a king size bed, jacuzzi and fireplace. The decor was elegant and beautiful. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was unbeatable right in the heart of Stowe within walking distance to great shops and restaurants. The dining room offered a buffet breakfast that we passed on. We loved sitting in front of the fireplace in the comfy wing back chairs with a glass of wine.

Our trip to Stowe almost didn't happen, because we started our reservation search too late into leaf season. The Green Mountain Inn found room for us however, in one of their "country rooms." We expected a small room, but were happy to find a beautiful room with plenty of space for two. The service overall was excellent, whether we were asking for hiking location suggestions, or were getting S'Mores packets (complete with toasting stick) to use at night out by their fire pit. The breakfast was great too.
The people were friendly, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We would not hesitate to stay there again!

We spent a night at the Green Mountain Inn and enjoyed it very much. The place exude charm and is steeped in history. The photo's in the lobby and other public areas document the area and tourism in Stowe. We had a room just off the original inn at the depot. The room and bathroom were pretty small, but provided enough room for the two of us for one night.

The next morning we took advantage of the Breakfast service and were pleasantly pleased with the quality and cost for it.

We're looking forward to returning to the Inn and enjoying the area and the friendly service.

We stayed here two nights on our fall foilage road trip - the Inn was beautiful, clean and well appointed. We had a great check in and received all the information we needed to make our stay in Stowe pleasant. That said, we ate at the Whip Inn once, and had drinks in the bar on two occasions. I would not eat at this restaurant again, the food was OK, service was barely just OK. Our waiter came back 15 minutes after taking our initial order and had to ask me again what I had ordered. At the end of the meal, he asked us if we wanted dessert and we said no - he left and never came back again until he dropped the bill at our table. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or another glass of wine. When checking in to wait for a table we were told there was at least 2 hours wait, but while we were dining we saw lots of empty tables.

Do not let this deter you from staying at this beautiful, well-maintained and comfortable Inn - just eat somewhere else - there are plently of choices in Stowe!

I am so appreciative of the reviews that our guests take the time to write, including those that let us know that there are areas where we need to improve our services. While I’m very happy to read that your stay in the Green Mountain Inn was exceptional, I am disappointed that your experience in the Whip Bar & Grill did not fully impress you as well. I will be sure to share your comments with our restaurant staff in order to improve our performance and I appreciate you reaching out to me to let me know. We all look forward to your return and thank you for your review.

We stayed for 2 nights at the green mountain inn over Columbus weekend. It was very busy but this did not impair the service we received or the quality of our experience. We had booked a room in The Mill House which was quiet and spacious. We had pre booked breakfast for both mornings which was delicious and kept us going all day. There are also complimentary cookies and tea served at 4pm but very few people seemed to take advantage of this - probably busy enjoying the lovely weather.
We were sorry to leave so would definitely recommend to others.

We are always sorry to see our guests leave, but we know that each time they do, we can look forward to seeing them sooner in the future. Our complimentary cookies and tea have some very loyal patrons, but I can certainly understand that the outstanding foliage would draw people away. It would be my pleasure to welcome you back to the Green Mountain Inn for another exceptional stay and I thank you for your review.

The hotel has an old historic inn building on the street, and various houses and outbuildings behind it. We stayed in a room in the Mill House. Large 4 poster bed and bathroom with jacuzzi and shower. Very comfortable, great night's sleep. The only minor odd note was they only had plastic cups in the bedrooms, not glasses. Very strange when everything else was well thought through.

We stayed two nights. We tried the attached Whip Inn for dinner on one of them. I would not particularly recommend it, although it was ok we had a better meal in Harrison's across the road on the 2nd evening, and good breakfasts up the road in the Black Coffee Cp (or something like that). Whip Inn had dirty carpets and was rather dingy.

Room Tip: Mill House rooms are good

Third time at the Green Mountain Inn and third fab trip. Great service at the front desk by Paul who recommended a great place to eat along the road at Ye Olde English Inn, great food, thanks Paul. We also ate at the Hotel which was also very good. Shame the bar closes so early that would be our only complaint. Apart from that everything was fabulous. Would highly recommend this place to anyone passing through Vermont.
