“Stone Hill is Wonderful”
Reviewed 10 October 2006

This was our second time staying at the Stone Hill Inn. It is just a perfect location and Amy and Hap, the innkeepers, are very friendly. The inn has everything you might need for a great evening in or out. The trails are fun to walk, the pond is relaxing to sit by, the scenery is first rate and the breakfast is fabulous. It is very private without being at all stuffy. You can walk down to the kitchen in your stocking feet. We stayed in the Fiddlehead room and it is one of the finest we have ever stayed in. Everything was excellent. Though we were there for the leaves, The Stone Hill Inn is about as close as you can get to the Mount Mansfield Ski area, just a mile or so down the road.

We stayed in the Sterling Room for three nights and throughly enjoyed our stay with Amy and Hap.

Our room was confortable and tastefully decorated with a great fireplace.

Breakfast was wonderful each day with them offering three choices each day by candle light in their beautiful breakfast room.

Be sure to buy their cook book which has all the receipes they offer at the Inn. And also be sure to see the gold fish in the water fall area in the back of the property. The grounds are well maintained and just beautiful with chairs located in different locations to read a book or just relax.

We will recommend this Inn to all of our friends.

We stayed here at the beginning of September. The Inn is absolutely beautiful with very sumptuous ammenities, common areas and bedrooms. The bathrooms are fabulous with fireplaces and whirlpool baths. The gardens are beautifully maintained and everything is picture perfect.

The well stocked fridge and eearly evening snack is a nice touch and the breakfasts are really tasty with a good choice.

My only criticism would be the 'do's and don'ts'. Obviously the owners dont want candle wax on their carpets or their rooms setting fire to etc, so some are obvious and understandble, but a note was left by the sink "please put cups on the tray and not in the sink" because one of our party put a cup in the sink rather than leave it lying about (they didnt see the tray). A touch over the top and unecessary and left us a bit on edge and unable to relax properly. Didnt exactly give you that 'home from home' feeling. (And we are definately NOT slobs).

  • Liked — The great ammenities and luxury rooms
  • Disliked — Notes left around the inn

Thank you for taking the time to write. I'm so glad you enjoyed just about everything about the inn, including the room amenities and gardens. I just wanted to make a clarification for your sake. Please realize the sign you mention was in no way directed at anyone in your party. I assure you it's a permanent framed sign that has been there for at least 3 years. The idea is simply to keep dirty dishes from being brought back into the Guest Pantry area where food is presented and served at hors d'oeuvre time. We enjoyed having you as guests and would be happy for you to return someday. - Amy Jordan, Innkeeper/Owner

The inn and gardens are so romantic!
Although planned in 3 weeks our wedding in the garden of the Stone Hill Inn was more than we could have possibly imagined! Athough it is up to the guests to plan their own wedding, the owners graciously allow the ceremony to take place at their inn and will provide a list of justice of the peace, photographers, bakers and florist. One addition to this list that we can suggest is tux rental at DeNoia Dry Cleaners in Stowe.
Hap and Amy are wonderful cooks and it is obvious that they truly enjoy their inn and guests. We especially loved the peaches and cream brioche french toast!

There is absolutely no way to perfect this lovely Inn. Very clean rooms with everything you could possibly need. Town of Stowe 5 mins away. The best gourmet breakfast you'll ever taste in a tranquil environment. Lovely ,warm Innkeepers 5 star for sure.

This was our second stay at Stone Hill. Once again we were amazed at the cleanliness, and attention to detail. The owners are a professional couple that treat you like you are the only ones booked that weekend. Our room was spotless, the fireplace was perfect both in the main room and the bath! This is one our our favorite romantic spots. If you are looking for privacy, simple elegance, beautiful grounds and a delicous breakfast to top it off Stone Hill Inn won't disappoint you!

This inn is absolutely amazing! When looking for a B&B in Vermont, we just picked one out of the blue. After looking at the inn's website, it seemed like the perfect place. Amy and Hap are very nice and genuine people. They go above and beyond doing anything from making dinner reservations to help planning a romantic evening. The best part of the inn was that it didn't force mengeling between the guests. We just wanted to go and celebrate our anniversary privately and it was perfect. Each morning, you get your own table, over looking their gardens, candlelit dining, and the most incredible food imaginable. Amy said that they searched long and hard to find the perfect recipes and they did! While I was there, I had vanilla waffles (amazing) and peaches n' cream stuffed french toast! Yes, it sounds a little "experimental" but is phenomenal! For the less adventurous, they always have other options. By far the best place imaginable to spend some time alone with a loved one. We plan to celebrate our anniversary every year there and I know I'll look forward to it every time! You won't be disappointed.
