“swimming in Stowe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2013

I can't think of a better way to cool off on a hot summer day than by going swimming in a swim hole. I don't know the name of one of the swim holes I went in. It was along the bike path. All I know is that I worked up a sweat while biking and decided to go for a dip in it. The water looked so inviting; crystal clear. It was very cool and refreshing. Just what I needed. The water was waist high so it was definitely deep enough to cool off in. Well worth it.

“Classic New England. A bit upscale.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2011

This is a great spot to spend a week in the summer. Hike all over - the mountains are huge compared to what I thought they'd be like (coming from the west coast), eat at some fantastic restaurants, and explore the nice-sized downtown. It is just upscale enough to be interesting, but not so much as to be over the top like Aspen or something. And it retains that quaint New England charm. So go! What are you waiting for?

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2010

Not to be missed in the first two weeks of October. The ambiance is breath taking as the leaves are in all their spectacular. color.
Ride along route 108 towards Smugglers Notch from Stowe and you will catch the fall foliage in all its splendor
The views from the Toll Road" are a must... as you drive through to the top of the mountain and look down upon Stowe.
Put it on your list of "things to do!!!

“Beautiful little town”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2010

My husband and I visited Stowe in Oct 2010. It was a gorgeous little town with beautiful foliage. We stayed for 2 nights but definitely could of done it with only being there one night. There is NO nightlife there....so prepare to entertain yourself at night. All the little shops and galleries close at 6pm.

There are so many trails and waterfalls to go off and explore. I am not a hiker but they were easy enough to get around to. Loved Moss Glenn Falls. It was really nice!

We did a lot of driving and leaf peeping. We explored roads up in the mountain off the "beaten path" and saw some great scenery. Go to "Emily's Bridge" at night. Very spooky and haunted!

Go up to the Trapp Family Lodge. There are horse rides and it was just amazing to walk around the grounds. HUGE!!!
