Our room at the Round Barn Farm was nicely decorated and comfortable- although I wouldn't sleep in a bed with a memory foam overlay again- wasn't particularly comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty- but do plan some time as the 3 courses do take a while to complete. The snacks and cookies each evening were great.

We arrived on a Monday evening to find out that only one restaurant is open in the area. Make sure to reserve a table at Peasants, as there are no other options on Mondays.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Dining options can be limited in the off seasons and we're always happy to help with reservations and recommendations. Just this week one of our favorite restaurants, The Big Picture, just released a new dinner menu and announced they are open 7 days a week! We hop to see you again on your next visit to the Mad River Valley.

What a great experience...The Inn at the Round Barn Farm was "over the top" for us. My wife and I went to Vermont to check out the leaves and covered bridges. What we found were all of the above, along with an incredible B & B. The people running the Inn were really great and made us feel right at home. It was unusual, in a way, because there were several ladies who ran the Inn and rotated jobs on different days.

The breakfasts were absolutely beyond excellent. The young male chef delivered extremely delicious food delights every morning, from cooked pears and fresh hand-squeezed apple cider to unbelievable pancakes, homemade jams, and butter. And I thought Vermont was all about maple syrup!! Of course that was superb, too.

I would highly recommend the Round Barn Farm for a night or a week. No TV's or phones in the rooms, just a great relaxing experience right out in the middle of truly God's country. We would go back there in a "heart beat"!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Palmer room, which was very nice. All rooms had hardwood floors, and many had old...

A high-end bed and breakfast with tastefully decorated rooms with different amenities depending on the room chosen. Staff generally pleasant, enthusiastic and helpful in terms of suggesting places to eat, making reservations and recommending things to see and do.
But high prices mean high expectations and there were some disappointments. A wobbly shower head took much too long to fix. There was an empty sugar bowl and no milk or cream available in the basement game room.
Breakfast is served between 8:30 -9:30 and is a production served in three courses. All of this, of course, takes time. So that it is hard to get out and about before 10 AM. Frankly I got tired of all the fancy stuff and would have welcomed a plain bacon, eggs and toast meal.
But for us the biggest problem was the bed which is the heart of any really successful hotel stay. The bed in our room had a memory foam mattress. I guess you either like them or you hate them. We are in the second category. I like to sleep on a bed not in it where it is a struggle to turn over. When you sit on the end of the bed to put on your shoes for example you sink into the mattress and start sliding off the bed. I hoped that maybe this mattress would be kinder to a some time achy back. But it made it worse. Never again.

Room Tip: Check each room for amenities and price.

We always welcome feedback from our guests and are happy to help however we can. When something is brought to our attention at breakfast we strive to have it fixed before our guests return from their day. In the case of the shower head we did have to take a little more time than expected and it was not completed until the evening. We are sorry for this as it's not as quickly as we would have liked.

Breakfast is a special time at the inn and many of our guest enjoy the pastry, fruit and entrees. For guests that want to start their day earlier we are always happy to accommodate for earlier starting times or even a breakfast to-go for our skiers in the Winter. Our goal is to always strive to accommodate whenever a guest makes a request.

The mattress in the English Room can be split into a twin or made into a King. When it's made into a King we add a TempurPedic topper. We do hear from some guests that they love it and want to know where to purchase one. For guests who don't find them comfortable we do have another option with less of a cushion. The English Room also has two sitting chairs next to the gas fireplace for guests that find it uncomfortable to sit on the edge of the bed.

We will continue to strive to exceed our guests expectations and always look for ways to make their stay more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing this with us and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

We stayed at Round Barn Farm for 2 nights at the end of Sept. The inn is very lovely in a picturesque country setting. We received a warm greeting and were allowed to check in early as they were not busy. Our room was the Dana Suite on the upper floor at the end of the hall. The room was clean and lovely with a gas fireplace, two arm chairs, and a HIGH bed (step stool is provided for easier entry. Caution, the room does receive early morning light due to a high window above the fireplace. We wake up around 6 am anyway, so it was not that big of a deal to us.

The innkeepers are all lovely, very friendly and helpful. While the breakfast is good, it was almost too much food for us. We enjoyed the food and you can ask for modifications if one in your party is a simple eater. My husband does not fancy anything more than the ordinary for breakfast but if a big and more interesting breakfast is up your alley, you will love the breakfasts here. The dining room is first come seating but has individual tables and a wonderful view of the hills behind.

They set our snacks and wine at 5 pm each day downstairs and there are two common indoor areas that are large for relaxing, the fireplace room and the downstairs gameroom. There are supplies in the game room in case you have bought snacks for your room (plates, flatware, napkins etc). There is also a lovely patio area outside for relaxing also.

There were only 2 things that I would improve and only one of these affected our stay. I think the bathroom showers are a bit dated and could use an update in a few years. But they were very clean and useable, so I would not score them down on this. It really is just the looks.

Though this might not bother most, the only thing that kept this from being a flawless stay was the room temp. We arrived in late Sept and the days were still in the mid to upper 70s. Our room was on the upper floor and was a bit stuffy and fairly warm. We opened our windows and ran our ceiling fan to cool it but our personal preference is for a cooler room. I believe the upper rooms by default are just warmer from the heat rising.

There was a window AC and we did use it but it was very noisy (almost to the point of keeping us awake) and iced up after a short time indicating it might have needed gas. It would be great if the inn would consider putting in the wall split AC units like we had at an older Inn in Woodstock. They do cool much more efficiently and quietly. But in the winter, I imagine those rooms would be lovely. We just sleep better if we can get the room under 70 degrees.

Otherwise, we would highly recommend the inn and may return again, only we would plan for a cooler time. We actually prefer the weather a bit cooler for travel (once again our personal preference). But overall, a very lovely inn.

I admit that I had dreamt about visiting The Inn at Round Barn Farm for the last few years, so my expectations were extremely high. Upon arrival and our initial conversation with one of the innkeepers, I knew we were in for a very special experience, and I was not disappointed. The setting is gorgeous and peaceful. Cows graze across the street and in the field behind the inn. Walking around the property, I saw beautifully planned gardens with surprises here and there. Frogs jumped past lily pads and birds flew in and out of the apple trees. There is a dirt road slightly beyond the property which allows one to walk and enjoy the lovely trees and mountains. Inside the inn are wonderful tasteful decorative touches such as the wire birdcage in the hall and wooden horse in the Richardson Suite. All spaces from the kitchen to the terrace level entertainment room are so welcoming. We were delighted to be able to sit on the deck in the early evening and sip a glass of wine and enjoy bacon wrapped scallops with other guests. We also found great attention was given to breakfast which was both creative and delicious. It was a treat to be able to sample apple cider which was provided by a local man who pressed the cider outdoors as we were having breakfast. As wonderful as all of these experiences were, the whole experience was made even greater by all of the staff at the inn. I felt that everyone was friendly, helpful, and approachable. When it was time to leave the inn, I remarked that the bar was set very, very high for all the other inns on our schedule. At the conclusion of our trip, I can honestly say that out of the six inns we stayed in for the past week, The Inn at the Round Barn Farm was truly the best.

Room Tip: The Richardson Suite is beautiful and spacious. There is no TV in the room, and there is a sizable...

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing feedback! The Richardson Room is one of our favorites and we're so happy you could enjoy it during foliage. Making fresh cider at breakfast is such a special thing to share and we love when our chefs roll out the cider press first thing in the morning! The apples at the property are delicious and even better fresh pressed :-). We can't wait to welcome you back to the inn!

We had a wonderful two night stay at The Inn. The breakfast was delicious, snacks were yummy, and the staff was professional, kind and helpful. In addition to the Inn's perfection, the weather was sunny and cool...just perfect. The trees were ablaze with color. Our visit to Vermont and The Inn was awesome.

This was as close to perfect as a place could be for what we were looking for. Out in the lovely countryside, but close to the little and beautiful towns of Vermont. Enjoyed the serene acreage surrounding. Also attached was a round barn made into a cultural location and attraction. One of the few round barns left, this one has been redone, and was presently housing an upscale art show. The show and the tours were free, and nowhere else have we seen a barn like this. It even houses symphony orchestras, and very upscale weddings. Really a perfect place for these kinds of events, but hard to believe until you have toured it.
The B & B was so gorgeous and service was impeccable. Breakfasts were 3 course with fresh flowers on the tables. Fresh apple cider squeezed from their own apples was one of the juices available. Also they bake their own bread in a little building outside. Rooms were beautiful, with all amenities. We stayed in one of the less expensive ones, but couldn't imagine anything better unless the more pricey ones have a king size bed. They also have a lounge or rec room for guests use. Has a small kitchen with fridge, large screen TV, billiard table, computer, etc. for guests. Water and soda available. Also about 3 in afternoon, cookies out, and about 6 oclock, appetizers. These are very special, and everything on china. You can almost skip dinner. We were traveling with another couple, and the accomodations were perfect for us both. Do hope we can stay longer than the 3 days the next time we're that away. Anne C.
