We are just back from a weekend stay at The Inn and cannot wait to go back, from the moment you walk in the door you are welcomed and feel at home and comfortable. We were a party of two veggies and one gluten free and all dietary needs were accommodated (although we had not pre-arranged this and my husband only mentioned in passing) the food was gorgeous, homemade and fresh, the afternoon cookies, the evening h'orderves and the three course breakfast is what sets this apart from most other B&B's. The decor is clean, very comfortable, luxurious and cosey. Andy gave us a tour and his enthusiasm and fondness for the inn is contagious, the inn keepers really want you to enjoy your stay and it shows. I can only say the staff, the food, the ambiance, the rooms oand the inn (games room, sitting area etc) are lovely and something that you must experience for yourself, they even provide with snow shoes and maps should you wish to go snowshoeing on their land, you do not feel rushed or 'in the way' it is a very relaxing cosey and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The Joslyn is totally luxe.

My wife and I spent a lovely weekend at the Inn at Round Barn. Staff was very attentive and the common areas were beautiful as was our room. Some nice touches such as appetizers in the evening and a pretty decent breakfast too (although everyone gets whatever the breakfast is for that day).

For winter activities it is a great location, with Snowhoeing on the inns own land, X-C Skiing close by at Oli's and Sugarbush and Mad River Glen just 10 mins away.

That said, whilst excellent I did feel it was a bit overpriced given that it is not a full-service inn, i.e. no bar or restaurant in the evening. Also be aware that whilst the rooms are very nicely appointed, noise and voices do carry from room to room.

Overall an excellent stay at a very nice B&B and from that perpspective you'll definately have an enjoyable experience if you stay here. Is it truly an inn? - probably a matter of opinion. Excellent value - probably not.

We chose The Round Barn for a visit as my daughter is getting married there in June and we wanted to get a feel for the Inn. What an amazing place. The ambiance and accommodations were just incredible. Friendly staff, cozy and well appointed distinctive rooms. Chef Adam created delicious breakfasts, happily accommodating our desire to get out early for skiing. We can hardly wait to get back for our June event!

I have been a guest at least 5 times for a "sisters weekend" and have loved it each time.If you want to relax and just unwind or hit the winter wonderland during the colder months this is great.
All the staff are very accomodating and the common areas are cozy and embracing. Just "chill" and enjoy the sights, smells of cookies every afternoon and the best Inn breakfast on the planet.

Let me preface by saying, I don't think we are "Inn" people, as we discovered during our stay. I think we prefer more modern "hotel" amenities.

The inn was in a lovely peaceful part of Waitsfield. We came up for a weekend away from our little ones for some skiing and snowshoeing. Our room was large and spacious, with a Jacuzzi tub and a fireplace.

Our room was beautiful - high ceilings with exposed beams, large king bed. The fireplace was a highlight. We actually liked that there was no TV as we could spend time relaxing and ready by the fire. The grounds were beautiful, and the snowshoe trails were easily accessible and provided a lovely afternoon outdoors. We brought our own, but I noticed the inn provides equipment for guests - and the equipment was fairly new and in good condition.

Breakfasts were delicious and innovative - though I don't really need a three course breakfast. However, it's served from 8:30-9:30 only, which is a late start to the day. They did accommodate guests with an earlier breakfast seating by request. After three courses, we didn't want to do ANYTHING except take a nap. Some people just getting away for a quiet weekend would love this. I'm more of a get up and go person and would have preferred an egg sandwich and cup of coffee to hit the slopes early.

The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. Judy, in particular, was great in making recommendations and was very warm.

The bed was like heaven, cozy and comfy. They also provided flashlights that you could take with you for your walk in from the parking lot at night - very smart! Cookies and tea were lovely in the afternoon - but could have used some mugs - they provide tiny glass teacups that hold about 6 oz. The selection of teas was top notch.

I thought the accommodations were pricey for the level of service. The bathroom was pretty dated, the leather chair in our room stained, light bulbs out in the chandelier. The jacuzzi tub's drain made a terrible noise throughout a bath (I believe the gasket seal was dried out). The handle to the shower fell off in my hand several times throughout our stay. Little things that really didn't cause us any discomfort or muddy our stay, but really shouldn't happen at $300 a night. There was a little basket with scissors, sewing kit, earplugs and light bulbs - but I really don't expect to be replacing my own light bulbs at a hotel. No irons in the rooms, you have to ask for one to be set up in a common hall. There also weren't the high end toiletries you'd expect from an expensive inn - there was a dispenser in the shower (like at your gym) that had shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There was a face wipe and tiny trial size lotion on the counter (great lotion though!). They did have wonderful robes for use during your stay, and adorable socks if you wanted to use them.

And as some other posters said, there is a slight smell to the water. I'm assuming it's just well water and sure it's perfectly safe. And, as other guests stated, it is loud. Just part of being in an inn, but we were above the kitchen, and we could hear the staff talking before breakfast VERY early each morning, pots banging (before 7am). Normally this wouldn't bother me either, but I have two kids under two and haven't slept in in two years.

Other guests were very pleasant and there was a game room on the lower level for gathering, pool, television. We didn't spend much time there, but guests seemed to like it.

All in all, it was a very friendly and welcoming environment. Big room with a cozy bed, wonderful fireplace, beautiful setting and delightful breakfast. A wonderful way to spend a quiet. lazy weekend with your honey. If you're just looking for a clean room to stay in for a ski weekend, probably less expensive options without the "ambiance" here. And again, I think we just prefer hotels. This was a really lovely inn.

Room Tip: The Richardson room was HUGE and beautiful with a rustic, cabin-like feel. Though beware of noise fr...

My wife and I spent 3 days at the Inn during the last week of January. It was a terrific experience in every respect.

The rooms were all tastefully decorated, fully equipped with all of the comforts of home, private baths, comfortable bedding, etc. etc. - simply great.

The food was the best. Wonderfully prepared by the Inn's chef extraordinaire, Adam. Perfect portions and delicious at every turn.

The staff was the best. Each and every person was helpful, genuinely concerned about comfort and enjoyment. But more then that they were all very competent and professional at every turn. It is that "expert level" that truly made our stay the best.

As for the buildings; the inn and the barn were fantastic. The love and attention to detail paid to the restoration was simply beyond impressive (take it from us, veterans of the house restoration ups and downs this place is simply something to behold)

Overall? Simply great - can't wait to go back when it is warner then -15 degrees!

Room Tip: We loved the Jones room

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Inn last week, which was frigid outside but warm and cozy inside, with a fire, cookies and pleasant hospitality to greet you just inside their front door. The architecture and style of the Inn is classic Vermont with exposed barn beams and a soft cozy color scheme, as you might imagine a Vermont Inn should be. The innkeepers and staff did a great job with dinner recommendations and suggesting itineraries to explore the Mad River valley area. We took a hike through the property grounds and wooded trails one afternoon which we enjoyed very much. The 3 course breakfast menu was varied and delicious every day. This place captures the experience we were hoping for and we'll highly recommend it to friends and family. We'll be back for sure!

Room Tip: We love the Dana room
