Great place for drinks and dinner and well worth the visit. Definitely make reservations, it is a small cozy place. Menu is excellent but limited.

“Great place next to the wooden bridge: try it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2014

I have been twice to this restaurant. Second time we sat at the bar: I really liked that. That is a good choice if you happen to go without a reservation. Service is extremely friendly. Menu is limited but that makes all the choices very fresh. The daily pate was very good in both my visits. The chocolate cake is awesome. I also liked the taglliatelle with gongonzola cream sauce... heavy but who counts calories after a good day of skiing :) . Friendly / good food / reasonable prices / nice atmosphere / what is not to like?

“Nice surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2014

Joined a few friends to ski MRG for the "Bullseye" snow of 22+ inches on Thursday! March 13th and by the time we were ready for dinner he suggested we try the Peasant. Wow, from the moment we walked in the service was very cordial and found us a table in the bar area. The waitress was. Colleen the daughter of the owner / chef and she had a full understanding of the menu, specials, ingredients and her own recommendations. We had the stew and a pasta dish with sausage which we all really enjoyed with the common review that the dishes are certainly rich. The set is a large portion and the pasta was just right. I heard the beautiful bartender say dishes are served relatively quick to one of the bar patrons and she was spot on, service is very good, we did have the house salad as starters so very simple and very good to kick off a rich meal. The owner / chef stopped by after our meal and we spoke for while on the background of the restaurant and his history, very interesting. Strongly recommend this restaurant for either a gathering of friends or if solo or two try to get a seat at the bar for drinks and dinner as I am sure you will not be disappointed. Ask for Colleen as your waitress....she may even be the hostess as well. Great discovery and a return trip for sure!

“The Perfect Meal for a cold winters night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2014

It may have been sub-zero outside, but upon stepping through the curtain (thermal), inside Peasant was immediately warm and inviting.

The menu was far from typical and offered an intersting selection of Stew, Ragu and other hearty winter warmers. We began with a Farro Risotto (which the waitress explained very well). My wife then had the Beef Ragu which was well balanced, great flavour, good beef and good pasta while I had a wonderful White Bean, Chicken, Pork and sausage cassoulet with just the right amount of spice. Wine selection was very good also. Staff was attentive.

Recommended without hestitation.

“A definite foodie stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2014

Peasant is a warm and inviting space, and when the food started to arrive it just got better. We began with a creative salad of shaved celeriac, which perhaps could have used a bit more dressing, but the fresh crunchy flavors were unusual and wonderful. For main courses we had a pork shank Osso Buco, and a Pork Ragu over pasta with an asian twist. Again, both were creative and delicious. Service was attentive and friendly, and we will definitely return next time we are in the area.
