“Fantastic latte and crumb cake”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2014

I have not had crumb cake this good since my childhood in New Jersey. Some of the items are dry, not a fan of the scones but the cupcakes are to die for. Service is friendly if sometimes a bit slow, but you are on vacation in the Mad River Valley of Vermont so slooow down and enjoy. If the weather permits sit outside by the river, they have a lovely patio overlooking the Mad River, in the summer time you can watch the children swim or float down the river.

“Great place for coffee, dessert or a small meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2013

This was a refuge from the rainy weather. The pastries and hot coffee fortified us for a walk in this charming area. There was no wait while we were there.

“Good morning tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

We thought the scones and coffee were pretty good. It is sooo hard to find a decent coffee in the US, and this place was putting in an effort and raising the average.

The decor is cute, a bit retro.

What lets it down a bit was the service, which whilst not surly or grumpy was unsmiling and disengaged. You felt a bit like an intruder in an otherwise well-oiled machine!

“Sticker shock”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

I have heard great things about the ice cream here so was excited to go. The place was chaotic when I got there with people smushed into the small interior. It was apparent the gentleman serving up the ice cream was less than enthusiastic about his job. No greeting or smile or offer of suggestions. When I tried to pay, it was a free-for-all with people coming in from all directions.
I got a total of three scoops between 2 cones and the total was just shy of $10. I know it is handmade ice cream but I was still a little taken aback by the New York prices. It is a nice place but I think I will stick to cremees.

“GREAT AND DELICATE BAKED GOODS!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 August 2013

We were lured in by the promise of cappuccino and espresso. Wonderful, fantastic cappuccinos and lattes; mucho benne; bravisimo multi!!!!! The wait staff and the bakers and cashiers were friendly, pleasant, and eager to please customers. We have heard many good reports about the Sweet Spot from enthusiastic customers, both locals and tourists. Yes, they do have a few indoor café tables. Atmosphere is king on the outside picnic tables and the trellised patio, and the little community park by the fast flowing Mad River, the Falls, and the covered bridge. We did sample the high quality baked goods which were delicately and expertly made. Cupcakes were beautifully decorated. Selections also included coffee cake, strudel, and glorious coconut (WOW!) macaroons. Other hot and cold drinks were available. The Sweet Spot bakery is hidden away behind the cute boutique galleries and neat little shops on Bridge Street, and near the super nifty Peasant Restaurant. There is plenty of parking in front and in the back. This is not restaurant row. No it is close to being Vermont’s version of restaurant heaven. So sweeten up and enjoy the many offerings at the Sweet Spot. On facebook = facebook.com/sweetsimones. Online at lisa@sweetsimones.com
