We stayed here for the Mad Marathon July 6-8th. We were with four other people and stayed in a two bedroom and we were comfortable and enjoyed it very much. Staff was friendly and helpful. The property is outstanding. Unfortunately the first day we were there there was an "incident" in the pool and it was closed for 24hrs but we had full access to the Sports & Fitness club which also had an outdoor pool and was just as lovely. The food at their Timbers restaurant was very good, best ribeye steak I've had in awhile. We also always travel with our dog and found it to be very pet friendly. The only complaint that I have is that if you are going to be pet friendly, a $100 non-refundable pet fee seems a little steep, especially for a small, well groomed, well behaved dog.

My husband and I decided to spend the night here when we found out that the historic Sugarbush Inn is not open during the summer off season. We found the property beautiful and very relaxing. We didn't expect to have all kinds of things to do at the property because we wanted to relax and take in the beauty of the area. The breakfast that was complimentary, was excellent. I was glad, however, that it was complimentary considering they charged $10 for French Toast. The staff were friendly and our room with the slope view was wonderful.

Room Tip: Rooms on the slope side are beautiful even in summer.

We stayed at Claybrook as part of the New England Tennis Holidays camp. There were 11 ladies in our group, and we booked 2 suites: a 5-bedroom/3 1/2 bath suite and a 2-bedroom/2 bath suite. While on the same floor, the 2 suites were located at opposite ends of the property which didn't really work for our group. Because the property was not full, the staff was very accommodating and allowed us to change the 2nd suite to a 1-bedroom/1-bath unit right next door to our larger unit. The unit was so spacious that all 11 of us could have actually stayed in the 5-bedroom unit, but that would have required 1 person to sleep on the sleeper sofa. The unit was clean, updated, and well appointed. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. The dining area had a balcony that offered panoramic views. The bathrooms were clean and modern, amply supplied with towels, toiletries, hair dryer, and had nice deep tubs, some of which were jetted. The beds were very comfortable with both firm and soft pillows. The only complaint was that, with the exception of the bathrooms, there were no electrical outlets located near mirrors, and at least 1 of the twin bedrooms didn't have a mirror.

The pool area was beautiful and had 2 good sized hot tubs which were not unbearably hot. There is a towel station near the entrance to the pool area so there's no need to bring towels from your room.

There is complimentary coffee in the lobby with a nice variety of flavored coffees. We had dinner at The Timbers which is right on the property. The menu was diverse and the food was excellent. There were many different entrée selections, but all agreed that whatever we had ordered was "the best we've ever had".

The entire property is very well maintained and absolutely beautiful. We would definitely stay there again!

We are spoiled when we ski, and look for as close to slope side as we can find. Clay Brook is not quite ski in / ski out, but close enough. The hotel plaza (facing the mountain, with pool & 2 hot tubs overlooking the slopes) is a short flight of steps below, and maybe 100 yards from the 2 main high speed quads (Super Bravo & Gate House) which provide main access to the Sugarbush terrain. The hotel has thoughtfully placed a separate ski valet building at the top of those stairs for overnight ski storage. A boot room is located just inside the main entrance to the hotel. Clay Brook is also located just below the "Gatehouse" day lodge with cafeteria, day lockers / bag storage, guest services, etc. It's not truly ski in / ski out, but again, very well located & recommended.

The hotel is new, and our 1 BR unit was located on the 3rd floor with living space (full kitchen, living room with gas fplc, dining room, 1/2 bath & stacked W/D unit) down, and a master BR upstairs. The building is about 5-6 years old, so all appliances are modern & attractive, kitchen & bathrooms feature granite counters, all well maintained. Our unit was a bit sterile, and would benefit from a little more art on the walls, extra towel bars & a makeup / magnifying mirror in the master bath, and some personal touches to make it feel a bit warmer.

I liked the duplex layout, both because it was attractive and because I seek out the quiet of sleeping on the top floor (Clay Brook is 4 floors), with nobody above. However, as the BR unit did not have a separate hall entrance on 4, it was necessary to carry bags on arrival & departure. The bellman whisked our ski equipment away on arrival, but we were on our own to get our luggage to the condo & up the stairs to our bedroom. Inquire about the layout if you prefer one level living.

The front desk staff, boot / ski room attendants were all eager to help, and assisted with restaurant recommendations, questions about the terrain, and a problem we had with one of the 2 TV's. Overall, wonderful!

Our only quibble was housekeeping, which was a bit lacking for a slope side, luxury property. It was adequate, but incomplete. Bathroom toiletries were never refreshed, we had to request a 2nd bar of soap for our shower, towels weren't refolded but left in whatever condition we hung them in, the hotel provided coffee packets in the kitchen were likewise never replenished without asking, the coffeepot was washed only on the 1 morning I placed it in the sink. Never did figure whether they run & empty the dishwasher or not. Nothing was done for the first 3 mornings, so we finally ran it. Housekeeping unfortunately skipped us entirely that day, so we won't know if the clean dishes would have been put away or not... I'm thinking probably not. None of these were big items, but housekeeping was consistently sloppy considering the location, marketing, and excellent efforts by the rest of the staff at Claybrook.

Separate review for the on-premises Timbers restaurant, but suffice it to say here that if you want / need full service food venue without ever walking outside, Clay Brook does offer a full breakfast, lunch or dinner in a beautiful space with lot's of windows to take in the impressive mountain view.

Overall, great stay at Clay Brook, and if they can tighten up their housekeeping, it would be a perfect base to enjoy whatever brings you to Sugarbush. Glad we came!

Room Tip: They may not guarantee it, but make sure to request a mountain view, especially if you come to ski!

We were skiing a couple weekdays after Easter. Staff was limited as the place was 3/4 empty during the week, but the help was great especially the manager. offered to hold our luggage the day we were leaving, use the hot tub and locker rooms after check out time. Restaurant was slow, staff very friendly , food a 3 out of 5

Room Tip: get on second floor, if skiing

The bell staff is eager, friendly and super-accommodating. Arriving with ski equipment for a family of four always puts me on edge and they whisked it all away into storage which is conveniently located at the base of the mountain. The rooms are well-appointed, new and comfortable. Housekeeping was OK, at best. In general, if we had gone in less with the idea that we were staying at a hotel and more that we were staying at a condo that happened to have some limited services available, we probably would've been more satisfied.

I was here with my children and found it to be a terrific base for enjoying Sugarbush. We walked right out to the mountain in the morning and all of the ski check in facilities were so convenient. There was a small but adequate fitness room open 24hr a day and the hotel itself was very clean and well organized. In addition the suites were just incredibly spacious and comfortable. We had a tremendous amount of room in our one bedroom with a beautiful view out to the mountain. I would come back and enjoy Sugarbush in a flash.
