Found this place on Living Social and it actually included breakfast which was a pleasant surprise. We stayed in the Dover Room which can accommodate 5 people. The room was basic but suited our needs. Phil the owner was very nice and highly visible thru out our stay. We had dinner in the tavern which was basic bar food, burgers and wings.

We found this deal on living social, and let me tell you, that was the best find ever! We already had plans to stay with family in Lake George, and after finding this deal, decided to take Monday off of work and go to Vermont for a night. Reserving a room was very easy, and Phil, the innkeeper himself, responds to you from the get-go. They provided perfect directions on their website, because your cell reception goes in and out through the Green Mountain National Forest while driving. We drove past several inns and motels before we found this pristine white structure with big rocking chairs on the front porch.

We walked in and were greeted at the counter by Lauren, Phil's daughter, who had a big smile on her face and showed us to our room. We stayed in Room 8, which was on the 2nd floor and had access to the front balcony. We arrived around 8, so we decided to have dinner in the adjoining 1846 Tavern before we unpacked. I'll let you visit my review individually over there, but I'll let you know it was a great experience! We purchased a bottle of wine from the bar and took it up to the balcony, and sat out, looked at the stars (holy moses, the stars!) and enjoyed great conversation together. The room is set up very nicely, quite spacious, with a big cozy bed.

We slept well, had breakfast again at 1846, which was included with our room, again, delicious! After checking out, we decided we wanted to go kayaking for the day, so Phil helped us check out, and then met us around front with a pick up truck toting two kayaks. We drove us down to the reservoir where we were able spend the day on the water. He gave us some suggestions for places to check out. We even found a rope tied to a tree limb and decided to pull the kayaks up and try it out along with some swimming. We told Phil we wanted to use the kayaks for 3 hours, and he met us afterward to pick them up so that we could leave from there.

We truly felt like family welcoming us to stay for a night, and I can see why others that we met, told us that they come back! I'd highly recommend staying there and would hope to do so again!

Room Tip: Rooms 6 & 8 have access to the 2nd floor porch!

Visited last Friday night. Phil and Lauren are just terrific. Checked in and headed right to the restaurant, attached to the Inn. Service was outstanding, actually Lauren waited on us. Excellent Cosmo then a glass of Fourteen Hands wine.....delish!

Good choice of food on the menu. We were not terribly hungry so just went with a few appetizers. We had mussels, shrimp cocktail and and veal dumplings (which were fried, did not know that until they arrived or probably would not have chosen) but they were excellent anyway.

The room was very cozy and comfortable, located on the second floor and one of the original bedrooms in the Inn . We had desert on the porch out side our room. Best apple pie I have ever had in my life.

We will surely go back!

This is an old inn. The floors are crooked, it's about 2 inches off the road, and our door didn't lock. Just what you think a New England B and B is about. What made this place get a higher rating was Phil, the owner. He went out of his way to find out what we would like to do (June) and he gave us a map and turn by turn excellent directions. It's hard to compare every B and B because they all have their pros and cons. Phil was definitely an owner who was helpful and very friendly. They were doing some renovations and we got an upgrade from the Garden room to the Mount Snow Suite. We loved the jacuzzi tub and it was nice to have an extra room to sit and watch some T.V. although it was the size of a postage stamp. Window unit air conditioning worked well although loud but I was a little glad because you could hear the cars on the road. Again, not a big deal -it's Vermont. I think this B and B could be awesome with a few upgrades - like bigger t.v's (flatscreen over the fireplace would have been perfect...get rid of the 1980's pink carpet and the old wallpaper.). However, I guess some people think that's charming. Breakfast was good- the french toast as others have noted WAS delicious. Didn't find the dinner so great but maybe it's because it is off season. I imagine the place is better in the winter with more activity etc...We got a living social deal and were glad we went to the area. Vermont is really beautiful! If you go here you have to remember this is NOT a hotel- it's a B and B.

Room Tip: Jacuzzi in the Mount Snow Suite was huge!

You can read specifics of everyone's experiences, room quality, etc...in the other reviews. To me, it all boils down to service and the personnel. Innkeeper Phil, daughter Lauren, and rest of the staff did an outstanding job start to finish during my one week's stay with them. They provided a high level of service and personal attention to even the smallest of details.

When you look at the other lodging options in W. Dover, there are very few that stack up when you consider: lounge, restaurant, rooms, easy parking and great service...all in one spot!

I plan to return to W. Dover soon and there are no other lodging choices I would consider - highly recommended.

The West Dover Inn was a perfect B&B for a weekend ski trip at Mount Snow. The staff was incredibly friendly, they accommodated a late check-in, and the room was cozy and clean! We really loved the free breakfast (I'd recommend the eggs & french toast combo) and it was also nice to have a delicious restaurant for dinner attached directly to our room. It ended up raining on us on the slopes and the staff directed us right to the dryer so we could make sure all our gear was dried before the next day of skiing. I would definitely recommend the West Dover Inn to a friend and stay again!

This has been the second time we have stayed at the West Dover Inn. The first time was in the summer with our children, the second time was in the winter as a couples ski weekend. Phil is THE BEST innkeeper! Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, etc.--I can't come up with enough positive adjectives to describe him. When we went with the kids--they were so accomodating, we never felt like a bother, we never got the "stare" for "bringing kids". AND when we went on our couples weekend-- we never noticed other peoples kids, it was private, quiet, etc. The food was EXCELLENT, breakfast cooked to order--how can you beat that? The mattress in the room was firm--not saggy. The bathroom was clean. There is an AWESOME restaurant attached to the inn--so you don't have to go anywhere to "eat out". and they have an awesome nightlife (musicans, comedians, magicans) The best part? When you go back to your room-- you can't hear the noise from the bar! So, if you are looking for a GREAT place in VT to go in the summer or winter, for a couple OR with kids-- go! It is AWESOME! :)

Room Tip: Just tell Phil what your plan is, who is coming, etc.-- he will pick a great room for you (whether i...
