“great place!”
Reviewed 24 October 2008

Went to VT to visit friends, see leaves, work out. Fantastic place.
Ate at Harriman's in the hotel. Swam outdoors in 30 degree weather, walked the Valley Trail several times---all fantastic.
Friendly staff, great room/accomodations...far from other towns but once one gets to Wilmington, Manchester, Brattleboro-very worth the trip. All great places to visit. Highly recommend this place anytime of the year. A must stay kind of place

Our one week stay in late July in a one-bedroom, recently refurbished, very clean, comfortable, and spacious unit was perfect for the two of us. The resort is huge, and it felt quite empty except for a couple of days when a business group arrived. We enjoyed taking the chairlift up Mount Snow (Fridays through Sundays), the terrific views, the 2 hour hike down the mountain (we saw a deer scamper away upon spotting us), and relaxing by the pool.

Overall assessment:
-Well maintained, comfortable accommodations. Full kitchen with Green Mountain coffee provided daily. Daily housekeeping was prompt and efficient.
-Beautiful setting. Great base to explore surrounding areas.
-Our particular end unit on the first floor (above ground floor) was located above a loading dock and was occasionally noisy. The view out the side of the complex was of a chairlift, rather than of the beautiful mountains facing the front and back of the complex. Minor detail for us. Small balcony off bedroom provided another view. There are many different types of accomodations available to choose from, all detailed on the hotel website.
-The large rectangular pool was very warm and also included 2 hot-tubs. A wooden fence enclosure creates a somewhat boxed-in feeling however, and butts up along one long side of the pool, leaving no room for lounge chairs. This wasn’t a problem for the one day we spent by the pool, but it may be harder to find a chair during busier periods. Also, there are not enough parasols to provide shade.
-There were no benches or chairs on the grounds to just sit and read or relax and enjoy the views, other than around the pool, which naturally can get noisy.
-Free wireless internet was terrific. Also, DVD player enabled us to watch a series we had begun at home.

Because we visited Bennington (historic battle monument, Bennington museum, Robert Frost’s grave), Manchester (Hildene estate a must see for the magnificent views and Lincoln history) and hiked in nearby Grout Pond (beautiful for kayaking), we enjoyed returning to Grand Summit as home base. Otherwise, we would not have had enough to occupy us at the resort at this time of year. Just as skiing is its main focus in winter, mountain biking and golf are the mains attractions here in summer. Still, it was a good choice for us and we’d return.

the hotel did not disappoint. the room was clean and the employees were pleasant. the outdoor pool was heated as stated and the hot tubs also met expectations. One drawback was the ice machine was not on our floor and it was quite a walk to it plus up one flight. If you like golf, Haystack is nearby and in great condition and a good deal for seniors during the week.

My family stayed during Memorial Day week. The resort was beautiful. We were one of the few families here, due to off season. We had a one bedroom, which I was originally concerned about, but it was plenty big enough. They have daily housekeeping in your room if you want. There is an outdoor heated pool/hot tubs open all year which my children loved. They hold water aerobic classes and yoga, there is a gym and spa. Also a small arcade room, but they offer nintendo in your room for about $8 an hour as well as misc. movies for a fee. There is a breakfast/deli on premises as well as a store to buy anything for skiing or biking. The lift chairs were open on weekends for bikers and sightseeing. It brings you 2/3 the way and you can hike up or down, what wonderful views! There is a small pond across the parking lot where they had kayak demos and we were able to take a free spin. My children (7&9) spent an afternoon playing in the brook there. They have a few activities going on during the week, movie one night, arts & crafts etc.

We spent a day in nearby Bennington (1hr) visiting the museum, monument, battlesight and Park-McCullough house. One day we took another trip to Hildene (President Lincoln's son's estate). There are plenty of state parks nearby for hiking as well.

My advise would be to take the Moo-ver (PVTA-free bus) for a complete ride, talk with the driver and locals on your first or second day. You'll find a bunch more info on sights to see, the local places to eat, etc.

Overall, we had a wonderful vacation. There was still plenty to do on offseason. The Grand Summit in West Dover was one of the best places we stayed. The front desk was super, extremely nice and helpful. The entire resort was very clean.

A great location, right on the mountain. This is what you are paying for. Room OK, basic, a little worn and a little dated. The convenience and the location are what you are paying for.

Unless you get lucky enough to find a parking space , plan on using valet parking, unless you are able to walk uphill in snow/mud with your luggage and skis.

Suite had kitchenette that was adequately supplied with kitchen equipment (just the basic necessities). Small "full-size" refrigerator.

Food in cafe, mini-store and restaurant reasonable/adequate.

Well stocked ski store in hotel.

  • Liked — Location for skiing
  • Disliked — Paying for location, not the quality of the room which is just OK

Reviewed 30 April 2008

I stayed at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel at Mt. Snow this past weekend, and I had a very positive experience. I was at the hotel for a women's retreat, and I couldn't be happier with the accomodations. All the meals they prepared for us were fabulous! Our room had two balconies, two queen beds, a flat screen t.v. (though we didn't watch any t.v.), a large bathroom with two sinks, a closet, and an armchair. It was very cute and clean. The pool and hot tubs were very enjoyable, and they were saline, not chlorine, which was nice. I love those ski resort outdoor, heated pools!

The only problem we had was the noise from the plow at night, and the noise from the ski lifts in the morning. They were right outside our window, and they did wake us up. However, if you stayed in a different part of the hotel, it wasn't a problem. We didn't want to give up our two balconies though! (Anyways, I can't believe people were still skiing at the end of April with more dirt than snow!)

I really want to come back and bring others to ski next winter!

  • Liked — The view and the food.
  • Disliked — Outside noise.

We booked the learn to ride/stay package. We received 2 nites stay, buffet breakfast each day, and a stay in a great room with a huge window, full kitchen and bath. And a 1/2 day snowboard lesson with rentals for 260.00 each. The resort had an indoor/swim outdoor heated pool and 2 very large hottubs. Great workout facilities and spa services, several restaurants and bars and clubs to walk to. Or take a MOOver (cow painted mini bus) to town. A lot of families during the day but the slopes close at 4 and everything else stays open.
