“Great food.”
Reviewed 10 August 2008

We stayed 4 nights at the Deerhill Inn in July 2008. The food is to die for! Chef Michael obviously loves his work. We happened to be there during a special dinner celebrating Tuscany - menu including the wine was all chosen around the Tuscany theme. There were 18 of us and we were seated all together at one long table outside on the grass. 5 course meal - 6 courses if you include the appetizers in the cocktail hour. Wonderful! Geographically located near Mount Snow - mountain area - we went hiking and biking and did a little shopping. Great place for relaxation and getting away from it all. Brenda

“Bad Hair Day”
Reviewed 19 September 2006

We've been going to Deerhill since it first opened and up until recently have fully enjoyed our experiences. Based on our most recent visit, my opinion has, however changed. While the menu, presentation and execution under the present owner/chef still merit kudos, the public/dining room side of the operation has gone down significantly.
Gone was the warm greeting by the host/owner on our arrival, just a perfunctory leading to a table; service was not up to par, with the waitress forgetting to bring our salads until after our entre; and while i sipped my cappiccino, the discovery in it of the plastic ring to the milk container added nothing to the enjoyment of the meal. Significantly, absent during the meal, or indeed even after the discovery of a foreign object was the host/owner.
For $160.00, sans gratuity, for dinner for two (no bottle of wine either), Deerhill is no longer on my must do's in the Deerfield Valley.

We're dismayed to read that our reviewer had such an atypical experience at the restaurant back in 2006. But we are pleased to report that as of May 2011 the Deerhill Inn & Restaurant is now owned by Ariane Burgess & Scott Kocher. We strive to offer a relaxed, friendly, and welcoming environment, both for our lodging and dining guests. Executive Chef Todd Draper and Chef James Hadley have received rave reviews for their fresh take on American country cuisine. We offer a varied a la carte menu, a four-course prix fixe menu for two for $95 (you can choose any items on the menu), and a six-course tasting menu for two for $138.

Visited there recently on a trip thru Vermont and the place is amazing. Great location (close to everything in Southern Vermont -- Bennington, Hildene, Manchester, Brattleboro, etc.) and just very well run. Clearly the owners/innkeepers are meticulous in their care of the Inn grounds, the rooms, and especially the food in the restaurant. Dinner was really excellent. The stay and the meal were worth every penny.
