This is a lovely and rustic B&B style inn in a quiet area of Southern VT. We found the inn clean, quiet, friendly and the breakfast was wonderful (try the blueberry pancakes!). Patronize local businesses like this and you will not be disappointed.

Stayed at the Kitzhof with a group of friends. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! We were treated to a wonderful breakfasts and a spectacular BBQ on Saturday evening. Simon lead us on a guided motorcycle ride of the local covered bridges. It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend. The Kitzhof Inn is definitely a place we will return to! Thank you so much Simon and Alison for a grand weekend!

My 9 year old daughter and I had a wonderful 3 night stay at the Kitzhof Inn this past weekend. It was our first time and we will be back. A classic Vermont, Austrian replica challet. Very casual, no frills and layed back. If you are looking for turn down service go elsewhere...if you are looking for a place to lay your head and have a good breakfast in the AM and walk around in slippers then this is the place. Rooms are clean and simple. Beds are comfortable. Bathroom was small but served the purpose. The staff was helpful and very nice. Yes the walls are a bit on the thin side but if you are a really light sleeper bring ear plugs ( which I always carry with me) or ask for a room at the end of the hall, perhaps on the second floor. All in all, great experience and we will be back as a family next winter! Thank You Kitzhof!

Room Tip: rooms upstairs and perhaps at the end of the halls are quieter

We stayed here a short time ago and would definitely return, It's a friendly place located close to Snow mountain. It offers a great breakfast that came with our room, we stayed one night but will stay longer the next time we visit Vermont. This was our first visit to the area and I must say the mountains are spectacular! If you are in the area this is a good place to relax and put your feet up!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Kitzhof Inn for a couple of days in early January, and we had an AMAZING time! The staff was extremely friendly, the rooms were cozy and the atmosphere was very relaxed- exactly what we were looking for. Not to mention the awesome breakfast! We will definitely return.

The two owners are what really make this place great. They are warm and welcoming and clearly worked hard to make my family's stay enjoyable. Their two dogs are very friendly. The breakfast is great, I had the hearty Vermont breakfast both days I was there and it was good to start a day of skiing off with a full stomach. There was nothing better than getting into the hot tub after the day's skiing. Mount snow was extremely close to the inn. A lot of people have mentioned the walls being thin however I'm a pretty deep sleeper and and had no problems with noise. The common areas are warm and cozy. The whole place seemed clean and it had a nice character to it, being modeled after an Austrian ski chalet. Would definitely visit again.

My family and I stayed at The Kitzhof Inn for 2-weeks over Christmas and the New Year 2012/13. My wife and I and two children - 18 and 20.

We chose it because of the friendly reputation the Kitzhof has and it didn't let us down. The Inn wouldn't be out of style in the Swiss Alps, but in amongst the wooded area of West Dover it's perfect.

Simon & Alison (the owners) have set up a great atmosphere and many people seemed to come up regularly from NY and the local cities for the skiing and stayed at the Kitzhof as a matter of automatic preference.

Breakfast is a choice of full cooked or pancakes or other warm options on various days. Always lots of cereal, tea, coffee and toast

There are two main public areas for relaxing; in and around the reception area on the 1st floor where there are armchairs, magazines and a piano! Downstairs there's a big lounge area with sofas, a TV, books, games and an ice machine. There's also an internal hot tub, however we often saw guests chatting away to the owners at one of the tables in the big dining room, discussing what to do, where to go or just to get an ice pack after a tumble on the mountain.

Mount Snow and it's slopes are just a short hop away and the "Moo-ver" bus is free and stops right outside the Inn and takes you to the main slopes. The area also has snow-mobiling, cross-country skiing and husky driving.
Do check around for ski-tickets in advance. We left it a bit late, but try Liftopia before trying to book on the Mount Snow site, there are all sorts of deals on offer. Call Alison or Simon before you book as they will be able to give you the latest places to try. Also if you want to speak to equipment hirers before you arrive, again call the Kitzhof as they will be able to offer help as to where to go.

If you have not got a ski helmet would really recommend that you get one. They are everywhere on the slopes there (unlike our experience in Europe). I took a brief board lesson at the start of our time there and the instructors will not take you up on the main slopes unless you have head protection. Hire is $12 a day - you can buy them from $60 and with a new one you get the guarantee that they have not been hit and you wont walk away from the holiday with whatever was last in the helmet!
New helmet..this is what I would do, hire the regular ski equipment and try to tie in a cash deal for a new helmet from the hire shop when you settle the bill. Interestingly a good ski hire shop wont hire out helmets because there's no guarantee they have not been hit.

The trip we made from London was to Logan Airport in Boston - well worth the time taken, but next time we will make sure that we have BA in BOTH directions..we made the mistake to go slightly cheap and opt for American Airlines coming back.. BIG mistake.

Car hire - we went with Thrifty as it was good value. While we were waiting for our car there was a person having a set too with one of the staff because the car was not ready.. then it was the wrong one. We also didn't get what we asked for, but were upgraded because there was nothing else in the category we had specified. So, while I have to confess it did seem a bit dis-organised, it worked for us.
Like the other car hire companies there, Thrifty puts on a free bus from Logan Airport in Boston to the Thrifty hire place. We chose not to take a satnav, instead took a map that was pretty good.

On a general note:
Downside? Yes, we lost track of time and the holiday was all too soon over.
Will we return? Yes, certainly. Would love to go in the summer as I understand there's tons to do then as well. Autumn (fall), well this is New England who wouldn't want to go and see the leaf fall in such a beautiful area! Have a good time.
