We spend part of our summer in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. I'm always keeping my eyes open for places to eat that have good food and good atmosphere. Parker Pie is a bit of a haul from us, but I recently made the trip out there with two of my college girl friends for a mini reunion to catch up and we had a great time. The restaurant is unique, tucked behind a general store that sells a little bit of everything, including some unique beers. There is a selection of spots to dine from the small seating/bar area attached to the general store, to the picnic area, to a larger pub area. We enjoyed a beer outside in the sunshine and were amused that there was a parking attendant to ensure adequate parking for the evening. We moved inside for pizza, and then headed to the upstairs area to listen to a bluegrass band who were very fun. The staff were friendly, the beer was good - good selections, unusual pizzas that are tasty, and a music venue too! Not often I get a night out on the town when in NEK, so this was a fun excursion for us! If you're up that way, I'd definitely recommend popping in for a casual, relaxed, and laid back meal in a lovely part of the state.
